What's New This Year (in the League)?

The Basics

  • What is the Name of the League and What Services Does it Provide?
  • How do I start a team in the league and what are the basics I need to know?
  • Do I need to have a home field? What if I don't have one?
  • Does the league schedule umpires? Who pays for the umpires, the league?
  • Who Is Responsible For Supplying Baseballs For Games? Is It The League?

    No.

The league does not supply baseballs for any games except for the tournaments that it hosts.

Because of difference in field availability, some ENYTB teams have more than 50% home games, sometimes much more. It would be unfair to ask such teams to pay all ump fees for their home games or to supply all game balls for their home games. To remedy this situation ENYTB requires that each team pays for one ump per game played. In addition, ENYTB has rules for who supplies game balls, depending on the circumstances:

SINGLE GAMES - And Both Teams Have A Home Field.

The team designated as the home team on the official league schedule shall be responsible for supplying the umpires with ALL necessary baseballs.

REGULAR DOUBLEHEADERS - And Both Teams Have A Home Field.

At ages 12U & Under - if the games are being played as a regular DH, the two teams shall alternate as the home teams and each team shall be responsible for supplying all baseballs during its "home" game. This rule is followed in the younger age divisions because younger aged teams frequently meet only once per season.

At 13u & Over - if the games are being played as a regular DH, the team designated as the home team on the official league schedule shall be responsible for supplying the umpires with ALL necessary baseballs for BOTH games.

SPLIT DOUBLEHEADERS - And Both Teams Have A Home Field.

"Split" DHs occur when the home team plays back-to-back single games with two different away opponents. In terms of who is responsible for supplying baseballs, these games are treated the same as single games, regardless of team age. NOTE: In the rare situation where the opponents remain the same for both games and only the field changes, then the rules for a regular DH should be followed.

The Away Team Has No Home Field

Whenever the away team has no home field of its own, it must supply game balls. But, again, in the interest of fairness, this varies according to the situation:

SINGLE GAMES - And The Away Team Has No Home Field

The away team should provide the home team with three new or near new baseballs per game played.

REGULAR DOUBLEHEADERS - And The Away Team Has No Home Field.
Regardless of team age, the home team should supply all game balls for the first game and the away team should supply all game balls for the 2nd game.

SPLIT DOUBLEHEADERS - And The Away Team(s) Has No Home Field.

As defined above, "Split" DHs occur when the home team plays back-to-back single games with two different away opponents.

These games are treated the same as single games, regardless of team age. That is to say, the away team (w/o a home field of its own) should provide the home team with three new or near new baseballs per game played. NOTE: In the rare situation where the opponents remain the same for both games and only the field changes, then the rules for a regular DH should be followed.
