What's New This Year (in the League)?

The Basics

  • What is the Name of the League and What Services Does it Provide?
  • How do I start a team in the league and what are the basics I need to know?
  • Do I need to have a home field? What if I don't have one?
  • Does the league schedule umpires? Who pays for the umpires, the league?

    No and No.

The league is not responsible for scheduling umpires for regular season games nor does it pay for umpires.

SCHEDULING UMPIRES - The team designated as home on the website is always responsible for scheduling umpires UNLESS for some reason, the game is being played at the "away" team's home field. In the latter situation, the AWAY team shall be responsible for scheduling umpires.

To assist teams find umpires, the League Directory contains an umpire sub-directory, that includes contact info for both individual umpires as well as local umpire associations.[url=http://www.enytb.com/members/directory/umps.php[ click HERE for UMPS.

    WHO PAYS THE UMPS?

Two umps must be ordered for each game and each team pays one. Payment is made on the field before or after the game, depending on what the umpire organization requires. Payment may be required before play begins.

The home team pays the assignment fee, if any.

Each team pays for one ump. If only one ump appears, teams still pay half each. If paying by check, it is useful to ask the home team for the umpire fees when confirming the details of the upcoming game. We recommend all games be confirmed between opponents approximately one week before the game is to be played. This avoids errors and misunderstandings. Also make sure there is a common understanding of which field the game is on and directions for getting there, all of which is available via your schedule.
