ENYTB FORFEIT PENALTIES
posted by Administrator 06/08/2008 10:06:47
Non-playing forfeits shall be penalized as follows:Teams sometimes wrongly assume that non-tournament qualifying games can be canceled w/o penalty because they don't count in the competitions for tournament berths. This is NOT the case. Forfeit penalties apply to ALL league scheduled games equally. (The only exception is early in the season, when a... read more

ENYTB Switches to More Flexible Postpone/Reschedule Game Function
posted by Administrator 05/22/2008 11:05:35
Moments ago I switched the league over to the new "situational-based" [UPDATE GAME STATUS] function. This replaces the old [postpone] and [reschedule] game functions. Every game on your schedule now has its own Update Game Status game function. This function allows you to keep current the status of every game on your schedule. Keeping your online schedule current is a REQUIREMENT OF LEAGUE PARTICIPATION. Of course, all members are prohibited from changing ANY scheduled game online BEFORE contacting their opponent and getting his concurrence to the change.Any schedule change is immediately relayed via email to all affected parties, including players.NEW FEATURESBeginning now, if you let a game sit for more than 7 days beyond its scheduled play date unscored or not postponed and rescheduled you will lose points for a played game. (Either team (home/away) can enter the score of a game and now, with the new Update function, either team can also postpone/reschedule a game. Thus, a game becomes PASSED only if both teams fail to act.)PASSED Games - If both opponents agree not to play a game (cancel as opposed to postponement), they don't need to do anything online. After 7 days the website will automatically rule the game a PASS. A PASS has no penalty other than loss of points for a played game in the standings. PASSED games prevent teams from hoarding unplayed and/or postponed games until the end of the season and then declaring forfeit wins and going from last to first in the standings. This function also handles the administration of forfeits. FORFEITS - If however, one team wants to play the game, and the other does not (or can not and requests a non-weather postponement that is denied by his opponent), this defines a forfeit situation, with attendant penalties and fines for the offending team. However, to get credit for a forfeit, the forfeit must be declared online through [Update Game Status] within 7 days of the game's scheduled date. Failure to do so, will result in a PASSED game for both teams. A forfeit win is worth two points, a PASSED game is worth zero points. IMPASSE - If you have a weather postponement and the game has not been rescheduled and the 7 day PASS window is closing, you need to declare an IMPASSE online via the [Update Game Status] function, which, if the game was previously postponed online will now read the game's actual Status i.e. POSTPONED. By declaring an IMPASSE you will prevent the game from being locked-out as a PASSED game and cause the league to intervene to see why your opponent is frustrating the reschedule process.I believe the new logic is intuitive and self-explanatory but if you encounter a situation that is not so obvious the first time through, just call me or a League Rep. Also, this game function [Update Game Status] was more complicated to implement than the old postpone/reschedule system. I have tested it but, like anything new, there could be little bugs here and there. Please report any errors you may encounter. If you are confused about any aspect of using this function, please contact me and we will go through it together. Ed
