Henkel Leagues Nullify Their Merger Vote - Merger To Proceed at 15U and Younger
posted by Administrator 10/31/2005 09:10:00
Dear ENYTB Members,Last night the existing MM16 and CM18 Leagues voted to renege on their previous vote to merge with us and instead proposed that all our (ENYTB) teams simply register in their Leagues with them. This was Joe and Brian Henkel's original suggestion at our March 8th meeting with Al Roy. When that failed to get traction with me they started throwing around the word umbrella. We've now come full circle. And there's much more. (i) Their teams would not be required to register with us in NABF;(ii) They would receive full player protection vis a vis all our teams under all affiliations.(iii) They would designate certain of our teams as elite and preclude them from play with their teams. In short, their teams would accrue almost all the benefits of a merger w/o actually merging and our teams would get no real benefit yet they would be required to give up their rights to a large group of players that they currently have access to. If all this weren't enough, they also propose to schedule our 16/18 teams w/o any regard to our younger teams sharing the same field or any of the other customization options we offer our teams. This has the potential to result in an awful schedule for our teams as well as cause significant delays in my scheduling of our younder age divisions (they wouldn't have the 16/18 schedule completed until the end of April). In addition, they would structure the entire Division, including what divisions would be offered, who would go into them and what the head-to-head must play requirements would be set at. This proposal could not be more one-sided and the scheduling part alone would undermine our entire league-wide scheduling process. We have rejected Joe's post-renege proposal and have permanently terminated all negotiations with him and the two Leagues he represents. Instead, we will proceed without him as follows:(1) The merger between ENYTB and CD AAU (13-14-15) and will take effect and proceed as planned. I confirmed this with their negotiator, Andy Smith, on Saturday. All of those teams are already fully registered on the website.(2) ENYTB will establish its own MM16 and CM18 Divisions under the conditions set forth in UNYSABA's (Al Roy) March 8th edict. (3) All ENYMML and ENYCML teams are encouraged to join the newly formed Federation this year under the same terms as offered by ENYTB in its merger proposal - such teams will get full and immediate roster protection under all affiliations all the way up.(4) AABC rosters of last year's ENYTB MM15 teams are protected vis a vis the ENYMML and ENYCML provided these teams register with AABC again this year i.e., none of your players can play in the other MM16 League without a release from you IF YOU REGISTER AABC16 WITH ENYTB THIS YEAR.(5) AABC rosters for all of last year's ENYMML/ENYCML teams are protected under AABC only. Such players would have to obtain a release to play for an ENYTB team this year in either MM16 or CM18 but not in NABF or PONY. (6) ALL PLAYERS not on an ENYTB team last year are unrestricted free agents. The only exception is (5) above and then if and only if the ENYTB team chooses to register as AABC 16 or AABC 18. (7) In future years, all ENYTB member teams aging up to 16/18 will have the option of registering in either MM16 League (new or old) or CM18 League (new or old). (The UNYSABA edict establishing ENYTB's own MM16 and CM18 Leagues prohibits teams from registering in both MM16 Leagues or both CM18 Leagues.) Those teams choosing to leave ENYTB to play in the old League will lose all player protection vis a vis ENYTB's non-AABC teams. Those that stay with ENYTB, including double registers who maintain a full franchise in this League, shall retain full roster protection under all affiliations and between Leagues.ed
