Fall Registration Closes Sunday, AUG 30Are You Ready To Self-Schedule Your Team? To: All ENYTB 2015 Fall Teams:Thank you all for registering with ENYTB for the 2015 Fall season. We already have a little more than 100 teams registered with 4 days to go. I expect we will have 110 to 120 teams registered by the time we start self-scheduling.What is self-scheduling?There is an article on our home page entitled, Fall League Scheduling & In-Season Schedule Updates which describes the self-scheduling process. In short, RUNMYLEAGUE (our website vendor) has developed a revolutionary scheduling software that enables teams to custom schedule themselves with real time dynamic updating i.e., each time a game is scheduled, the system updates every team's scheduling inputs accordingly. This software does virtually all the work of scheduling, leaving the user to simply select the home games he desires.First, it collects detailed scheduling inputs from each ENYTB team (daily team and field availability, as well as how many games the team wants in each sub-period of each week of the season (each week has two sub-periods: F-M (weekends) and T-TH (weekdays)). The interface for submitting these data is straightforward and designed to take very little time to enter. There also is an instructional video on each team's team availability page to guide your through the process. A - Teams - Enter their own team availability at:→ MY TEAM → Team Schedule → My Scheduling Inputs → Team AvailabilityB - Field availability can only be entered by persons with club level status e.g., club owners and/or club GMs. This is done at:→ MY CLUB → Home Fields → Field AvailabilityC - Team persons can view their team's field availability at:→ MY TEAM → Team Schedule → My Scheduling Inputs → Field Availability → Field AvailabilityD - Once these data have been entered by all teams, it is time to Self-Schedule (SS): (NOTE: This software will not be viewable till SS begins, Monday, Aug 31 at 3PM.) → MY TEAM → Team Schedule → Self-Scheduler.Self-Scheduler has its own instructional video at the top of the page. If you are not experienced in the use of SS, it is recommended that you view that video at least once.SS is a workhorse. Every time a game is scheduled, it recalculates team and field availability for every team in the system, conditional on all games currently scheduled. For example:Field availability is adjusted for the field that the game was scheduled on so that no other team sharing that field can schedule a game in that time slot.Even more importantly, every team's team availability is recalculated for every sub-period to check if any multi-day or game type limits have been hit. For example, a team may want a maximum 2 games per weekend and are available on Saturday or Sunday but not both. Let's say they just scheduled a Saturday DH. Since that team has reached its MAX GAME Limit for that sub-period, SS makes all remaining days in that sub-period NOT AVAILABLE for scheduling. These are called conditional block-outs i.e., they only apply when certain conditions (limits) are met. What does the user have to do?Very little.1 - If your team has access to field time on more than one home field, you would need to toggle between your various home fields (SS looks at home team's home fields one at a time);2 - User has to select the month he wishes to view;3 - User has to select the MODE he wishes to schedule from. There are four choices: SG, DH, Split DH and SG9 (9 INNING GAMES); and,4 - User may select up to 5 different opponents for simultaneous analysis.NOTE: The system determines a team eligibility list for each team. This list includes all teams within your team's competitive range based on what you told us about your team's relative strength and its strength-of-schedule preferences. They are many other bells and whistles at the top of the SS interface page but the four items described above are the essentials. When you have done 1,2,3 and 4, you will see green buttons light up on many of your available home field time slots. These green buttons indicate there is a match with that opponent in that time slot. If you want to schedule a game, simply click on that green button. Sometimes an error message will tell you a certain match-up is not available at this time because of various controls that are operational in that scheduling phase e.g., your team may already have scheduled its max # of home games allowed for that phase. If so, go on to another green match. You may be able to schedule the first match in the next or later phase. What schedule will we follow for SS?We want to get everybody fully scheduled BEFORE Labor Day weekend begins. NOTE: If you want to begin play on Labor Day weekend, schedule those games first and get your umpires ordered. Thus, self-scheduling will begin on Monday, AUG 31, at 3PM and will conclude on Friday, September 4. Most teams should have a full schedule by Wednesday night. _____________________________________________________________________Phase I:3PM Monday thru 12PM TuesdayAllowed to schedule games between non-local v local teams only. No limits other non-local teams will be limited to a 50-50 mix and local teams will be limited to one long distance away DH per season.---------------------------------------------------------------------Phase II:3PM Tuesday thru 12PM WednesdayAll teams allowed to schedule up to 4 total home games and 4 away games. (this includes any games scheduled in Phase I)---------------------------------------------------------------------Phase III:3PM Wednesday thru 12PM ThursdayAll teams allowed to schedule up to 8 total home games and 8 away games.---------------------------------------------------------------------Phase IV:3PM Thursday thru 12PM FridayRemove all league controls on number of home/away games that can scheduled. _____________________________________________________________________Teams can start play as early as Labor Day Weekend if they wish provided there is a suitable opponent looking for same.So that is it. If you don't want to SS your team's home games, notify me ASAP and I will do it for you. However, you still must enter all your scheduling inputs yourself.I will send everyone an update on SS by Sunday.Thank you,Ed
