MUST READ FOR FALL TEAMS - ENYTB Fall League Scheduling Process & Process For In-Season Schedule Updates
posted by Administrator 08/12/2015 10:08:17
MUST READ FOR ALL FALL TEAMSFall League Scheduling & In-Season Schedule UpdatesIn 2015, ENYTB introduced new software called Self-Scheduler (SS) that enables teams to effortlessly schedule their own home games consistent with their scheduling inputs. This new method of scheduling is revolutionary yet simple to do.ENYTB controls the pace of self-scheduling so that teams don't get disadvantaged too greatly if they miss a day or two. The SS process will begin on Aug 31. It takes a few minutes per day for a week or less to complete. Before SS begins, all teams must enter their scheduling inputs to the website. Scheduling inputs include field availability (can be entered by club owner only) and team availability (these are entered by a team person). What does SS actually do?SS interacts your team's scheduling inputs with the scheduling inputs of all other teams in your playing range (as well as with teams sharing your home field) to find all possible matches for your team on a daily and time-of-day basis with any set of eligible opponents.SS is solved dynamically. What this means is that as each new game in the system is scheduled (or unscheduled), all inputs are recalculated and the next set of viable match-ups are reflective of the updated inputs. This keeps teams and fields from being over-scheduled or scheduled in a manner that is inconsistent with the team's scheduling inputs. Example 1: Say you share a home field with pother teams and some of those teams have already scheduled games for the field time that is available for a given day. SS will not show any viable home match-ups for your team on that day. Example 2: Say your team is available to play every day of the week but you only want a max of 4 games per week. When your 4th game is scheduled, all other days in that scheduling period will no longer be available for scheduling.SS also enables each team to decide their own strength-of-schedule (SoS) by specifying their team strength and by scheduling games with either higher or lower rated teams.SS is very easy to use.SS includes several easy to follow instructional videos. Some cover input entry while others cover the operation of SS. Once you enter your scheduling inputs (which you can change at any time) SS finds all viable match-ups with any set of potential opponents. Each viable match-up has its own green schedule button. SO if you wish to schedule a particular match-up, all you do is click its green button. Similarly, teams can delete any game they schedule with SS with a single click. Opt-Out Of SS Is AvailableSS is a very powerful tool yet simple to use. Self-scheduling is fun to do. You control who you play, when and where. However, if you feel you don’t wish to schedule yourself, all you need to do is let Ed Frye know and he will schedule your team himself, using SS. However, even if he schedules your team, you still need to enter your own scheduling inputs to the system. In-season Schedule UpdatingUnfortunately, not all scheduled games are played as scheduled. Some games are postponed due to bad weather. Others are postponed or canceled for other reasons. ENYTB has rules governing all schedule changes. These rules generally limit the number of discretionary schedule changes a team is allowed by its opponents. It also places restrictions on the required notification period. These rules must be followed or your team will be fined for a schedule violation. For example, inside of 3 days of a scheduled game, it must be played as scheduled or forfeited unless rained out. NOTE: Non-local games (games involving at least one non-local opponent) can NOT be changed except by bad weather. Thus, it is important that teams familiarize themselves with ENYTB's rules on in-season schedule changes and schedule updating. Each game on your schedule has a row of icons specific to that game. Teams manage their requests for schedule changes through the use of these icons. Each icon enforces the actual ENYTB rules for that kind of in-season schedule change.IMPORTANT: Teams are required to keep their schedule current at all times. That means that if you wish to change a game ahead of time, you must use the appropriate icon to enter your request. If you wait till inside 3 days of the game or later, it is too late and the website will reject your request. It also means that if a game was played as scheduled, it must be scored. Or if it is rained out, that a request for a WP is entered in a timely manner. Failure to use these icons to keep your schedule current results in various significant fines. Without these rules there would be no schedule reliability in the league and most of you would be very dissatisfied with that. All fine money is re-routed into funding league activities e.g., tournaments etc.
