Self-Scheduling Meetings Rescheduled
posted by Administrator 03/01/2015 03:03:15
Self-Scheduling Meetings Rescheduled***COMING SOON!***Progress continues on the development of the new self-scheduling software that will be used by ENYTB in 2015 for custom scheduling the league. We now estimate a MAR 13 completion date. As a result of this delay, our two scheduling meetings have been pushed back to MAR 15 and APR 12 (@1PM both dates). More information on the progress of Self-Scheduler is provided on the following two slides from our Kick-Off Meeting: CLICK HERE for update of progress of SELF-SCHEDULER; CLICK HERE for a sneak peek of the SELF-SCHEDULER USER INTERFACE.We remain confident that this new scheduling methodology will quickly become the gold standard for custom scheduling by baseball and other sports leagues.SELF-SCHEDULER (SS) includes new user interfaces for both team availability and field availability. All inputs to the scheduling process are entered via these two new user interfaces. Both of these interfaces allow users to enter their scheduling inputs more quickly than ever before. The team availability interface requires the user to specify a weekly pattern for each week of their season. Each week is divided into two sub-periods. The first runs from Friday thru Monday and the second runs from Tuesday thru Thursday. For each sub-period, the user can control the total number of games that can be scheduled, the days that their team is available to play as well as the team's relative preference for playing on each day. The user also has full control over specifying his doubleheader preferences within each sub-period as well as on each day. For example, a team could make itself available to play all seven days per week yet limit its actual number of scheduled games to any number it desires. In addition, it could indicate certain dates as more desirable play dates than others. It can also layer in its doubleheader preferences in the same manner. As each league game (single or doubleheader) is scheduled, it reduces the availability of both opponents as well as the availability of field time on the home team's home field, which might be be shared with other teams. The beauty of SS is that it automatically updates all affected data as each league game is scheduled. For example, let's say the home team's desired game total for sub-period A is 2 but that it is available to play on all 4 days. Let's suppose we schedule a DH for the home team. What does SS do? First, it updates the availability of the home team so that it is no longer available in that sub-period. Next, it updates the availability of the away team according to its preferences. Lastly, it updates the field time still available on the home field of the home team. The updated inputs described above are then used to produce a new set of viable MATCHES for all teams, either home or away. The user chooses the most desirable home game to schedule next from all available MATCHES and the process repeats itself. Doubleheaders and split doubleheaders are an important part of ENYTB scheduling. SS includes separate solution modes for single games, doubleheaders and split doubleheaders.
