Meeting Came To Order At @2:00PM

Present:

Ed Frye, President

and the following members:

Bill Kelts - Waterford/Albany Thunder 22
Dave Nelson - So. Vermont Reds 22
Mike Andi - Schenectady Cyclones 22
Bob Imfeld - Schenectady Cyclones 22
Bill Creighton - Capital City Athletics 22

It was unanimously agreed by all members present to restructure the post-season program in the 22U division along the same lines as that of all other age divisions. Specifically, the 22U Division will have a July Madness Tournament and NCTS berths will be awarded separately via both the regular season standings and the July Madness Tournament. Unlike the younger age divisions where the Madness tournament is played in mid-season, the Madness tournament at 22U will occur following the conclusion of the regular season. This will give teams that do not win a berth through regular season play an extra opportunity to win one at the end.

FULL DETAILS OF POST-SEASON PROGRAM:

(1) NCTS BERTH OPPORTUNITIES: (5)

(A) ENYTB will purchase two berths to the NABF22 NCTS (Philly and then Toledo) and two berths to the NABF Unlimited NCTS (MD or CT and then Buf);

(B) NABF NCTS berths - All four shall be awarded to 22U teams only;

(C) NABF NCTS Registration - Shall be made mandatory for all 22U teams @$50 per tournament. (This replaces the mandatory sanctioning fee of $100/team we had previously.);

(D) AABC NCTS Registration - Shall remain optional.

NOTE: We will need a minimum of four teams to register for this option to qualify for one berth (Syr/Albany/FL);

(2) HOW NCTS BERTHS SHALL BE AWARDED:

(A) ENYTB shall host a July Madness22 tournament beginning Sunday, July 22 (WFD).

... Two rounds will be played on Sunday and one round each on the next two to three days.

... The format will be the same as used at the younger age divisions i.e., single elimination format with progressive play-in in the early rounds for the lower ranked teams (higher ranked teams get a bye). CLICK HERE for full details re: "Madness" tournament format.

... Registration shall be optional and all teams who register shall qualify.

... The prizes shall include two NCTS berths, one at NABF22 and one at NABF UNL.

... The tournament shall also provide quality team trophies for 1st and 2nd place, similar to last year, and all baseballs. The entry fee shall be $200/team.

NOTE: Teams pay their own umpires i.e., each team shall pay for one umpire per game, same as regular season.

(B) ENYTB22 Standings - one NABF22 berth.

... The NABF22 berth shall be awarded to the top ranked team in the NABF22 Standings based on regular season play alone. This team shall not be eligible to participate in the July Madness Tournament.

(C) ENYTB-UNL Standings - one NABF-UNL berth.

... The NABF UNL berth shall be awarded to the top ranked team in the NABF-UNL Standings based on regular season play alone. This team shall not be eligible to participate in the July Madness Tournament UNLESS it wishes the opportunity to compete for the berth to the NABF22 NCTS.

NOTE#1: Any team electing this option shall be required to take the NABF22 berth if it wins it and, to surrender its NABF UNL berth. (We don't want teams playing in the JMT just to play extra games.)

In the event a team surrenders an NABF UNL berth in this manner, the surrendered berth shall be awarded to the next highest finishing team in the NABF-UNL regular season standings i.e., not based on order of finish in the JMT22.

NOTE#2: If an NABF UNL berth goes unclaimed, the two teams going to the NABF22 Regional shall be eligible for it, provided they do not win the NABF22 tournament and advance. Further, if both were to fail to advance, the team with the best head-to-head record shall have first opportunity at the unclaimed NABF UNL Regional berth.

(3) The date of the JMT was moved up to July 22 to avoid the possibility that the team that wins the berth to the AABC NCTS would have a conflict. This will also give all our berth winning teams more time to draft players and prepare for their departures.

The team registration page has been updated to reflect all the above changes except that the NABF22 and NABF UNL options have not yet been made mandatory. We need to add that capability. So, if you register your team before that is done, be sure to check both boxes (NABF22 and NABF UNL). The JMT22 and the AABC22 remain optional.

The total cost for play in the 22U division this year is as follows:

(1) $475 - $525 (depending on Gold, HiSilver or LoSilver) includes NABF sanctioning and full eligibility for both the NABF22 and NABF UNL NCTS;

(2) ADD $200 to enter the July Madness Tournament22 (optional); and,

(3) ADD $150 to be eligible for AABC UNLIMITED NCTS (optional).

Other business covered at meeting:

(1) Ed answered miscellaneous questions from the members present; and,
(2) Ed distributed handouts (tables) laying out all the rules underlying all the schedule management tools available to members via their schedule.

Meeting Adjourned: 3:45PM

Thanks to those in attendance for a very productive meeting.
Ed

ps - If all of the teams in the college division get their fees and scheduling inputs to me by early April, I will schedule your division first, as I have done the last several years.
