ENYTB Names Rotterdam Rangers' Mike Saccocio Its First Ever Manager Of The Year ...Mike Saccocio, manager of the 2010 Rotterdam Rangers 16U team was presented with two prestigious ENYTB awards at yesterday's league meeting. First, league President Ed Frye presented Mike with the traditional ENYTB World Championship plaque, to commemorate his team's victory in the 2010 NABF Junior Division World Series. The plaque was embossed with his team's picture and names as well as the logos of NABF and ENYTB (fireball). With only 11 players, the Rangers won a hard fought NABF Regional tournament hosted by ENYTB at the DevilCats Stadium. From there they traveled to Detroit and defeated the best 16U teams the NABF had to offer. This is the 4th consecutive season that ENYTB has had the pleasure of awarding a World Championship plaque to one of its member teams and it is the 2nd NABF Junior Division World Series Championship won by an ENYTB team in the last four years. The DevilCats organization won the same title in 2007.Mike's second award was just as special as he was the first ever recipient of the ENYTB Manager Of The Year Award and presented with a handsome engraved glass desk stand edged in gold trim. Mike has managed this team in this league since they were 12 years old. As a perennial championship team, I've had the pleasure to work with Mike and his GM, Bill Welch on numerous occasions at various tournaments as well as watch him and his team in action. His team is not only very talented and well schooled in baseball fundamentals but more importantly, they reflect a great dedication to, and respect and love for the game of baseball. No doubt, this has been instilled in them by their leader and manager, Mike Saccocio. And on the rare occasion a player would begin to lose his poise, Mike was always quick to remind him in a positive but certain manner that that is not the way we do things on this team. In short, Mike and Bill represent everything that is good about amateur youth sports. Their players are very lucky to have him as their manager and we are very proud to call him one of our own. I can think of nobody more deserving to be the first ever recipient of the ENYTB Manager Of The Year Award than Mike Saccocio. Thanks Mike for a job well done from all your friends at ENYTB!
