New Sanctioning Affiliations With CABA and GSA Headline ENYTB's Programmatic Changes For 2011...

Affiliations With CABA & GSA Headline Programmatic Changes For 2011 Season...As our veteran members well know, this league does not stay the same for long. Not only does the mix of clubs and teams change every year, along with the movement of individual players, but the league makes a significant effort to improve its program and operational practices. During each off-season the Executive Board, along with the Members' Council, conduct a careful review and analysis of the past year's experience, including the feedback from the membership. This year was no exception and the results follow:Program ContractionsENYTB's PONY HOUSE LEAGUE, known as ENYPONY, is likely to be abandoned due to insufficient participation. ENYTB is still talking with various entities about the possibility of continuing it, at least at the the younger ages. We shall see.Program Expansions/ExtensionsTwo More Sanctioning Choices Added to ENYTB Portfolio: Global Sports Authority (GSA) and Continental Amateur Baseball Association (CABA) - each provides World Series tournament opportunities at all ages (9U thru 18U at GSA and 8U thru 18U at CABA, including 19s who are still in HS). This greatly increases the opportunities of member teams to be eligible for sanctioned World Series competitions, including as many as five in each age divisionTournament Hosting - For the last few years, play in ENYTB hosted tournaments, particularly the younger ages, has not always been as competitively balanced as we would have liked, especially in the early rounds. In many cases, the lower half of teams qualifying for these tournaments did not have a realistic chance of successfully competing with teams in the upper half. This is not good for anybody. We think we can do better. Thus, in an effort to decrease this competitive IMbalance, ENYTB has reshuffled its tournament hosting priorities for 2011.The new approach is as follows:ENYTB shall host Open World Series Qualifiers for CABA, perhaps the most competitive sanctioned tournaments available to summer youth teams, as well as GSA, a sanctioning organizaion in its first year of existance. We expect these World Series Qualifiers to attract ENYTB's more competitive teams (those in the top third of the league) as well as top ranked CABA and GSA sanctioned teams from outside of ENYTB. ENYTB shall also host Combined Qualifiers for AABC, PONY and NABF in all age divisions. The top finishing teams in these tournaments shall advance to sanctioned National Championship Tournament (NCTS) play. The top finishing teams in regular season league play shall advance to sanctioned NCTS play as well.Four discount tournament packages are available for teams that wish to maximize their chances of advancing to NCTS play by registering for multiple options at once.Where available, a limited number of berths also shall be available to teams on a direct buy-in basis.ENYTB's non-sanctioned tournament, known as the Last Man Stranding, will run on teh last weekend of July for all ages through 16U. These tournaments shall be competitively balanced. ENYTB will host an upper and lower division of the Last Man Standing open tournament at every age level through 16U. The lower division tournament is a realistic option for teams who have little or no chance of competing with the big boys for berths in the big sanctioned tournaments. The top division of the LMS shall be reserved for our higher level teams who aren't ready to pack it in and call it a season yet. This tournament menu offers something for everybody and prevents gross mismatches. It should benefit all teams, regardless of strength. NOTE: It is the policy of ENYTB to give full refunds to any ENYTB team who has to cancel its LMS registration because of its advancement in any sanctioned tournament series.8U Division Added - with four different sanctioned tournament opportunities.Weekday and Saturday Play To Be Offered At Younger Ages (12U and under) - Members have asked for it so we are offering it on an optional basis.Late Season Scheduling - ENYTB offers custom scheduling through the end of July at all ages. Interested teams can continue their local play after the entry-level sanctioned tournaments in their age division have concluded.

Looking Forward to 2011 and Beyond...No league is perfect but we try. Schedule reliability is probably the most common problem shared by all leagues. ENYTB provides teams with a custom schedule yet some teams put little effort into the inputs they provide, under the assumption they can change the schedule any time they want, as they want.
