New Improvements/Extensions To Website Coming Soon...

New Improvements/Extensions To Website Coming Soon...Innovative New Navigation System - Makes navigation via a multi-level menu system as obvious as possible and promises to be one of the most popular website change ever. The new approach integrates a new software technique known as "accordions", with an old standard, drop-down menus. The resulting navigation system is as intuitive and as versatile as one could hope for.The new system eliminates two difficulties that have long frustrated all but the most experienced users. First, the large number (35) of Level 1 choices on the current drop-down menus can make it unclear where to begin. The new system reduces that number from 35 to nine! The nine Level one choices are:Home;About The League; My Club;My Team;Regular Season;Tournaments;Tools;Help; and,AdminThe other 26 choices are still available but not as potential starting choices. Instead, they now appear on the various level one drop down menus as Level 2, or even Level 3 choices. The new navigation system displays all nine L1 choices across the top of each page. When a user "mouses" over a particular L1 choice, a drop-down menu opens, listing all available options at the next lower level (L2). When an L2 choice is made, all L2 choices remain visible and the drop-down menu expands to reveal the L3 choices for that L2 choice (the L3 options are inserted below the selected L2 choice). The accordion continues to expand in the same manner when a L3 choice is made. The other difficulty that new users have had with the current navigation system is realizing that the L1 selection is only the first step in the "narrowing down" process (aka "drill-down") to find the information they seek. Many fail to recognize that there are many additional options available to them on the current L2 and L3 menus that appear below the league banner, and that these options change depending on the user's higher level selection(s). Contributing to this problem is that for each L1 option, the current method has a default L2-L3 path. Thus, when a L1 choice is made, the web page reloads to the default path = L1-L2-L3. This causes users to skip over the L2 and L3 menus and falsely think that the default selection is the only selection available for that particular L1. The new navigation system eliminates this problem altogether both by keeping the various levels of choice-making together in the menu and by not relying on defaults i.e., new page content is not "dialed up" until a choice has been exercised at the lowest (last) choice-making level available in any particular path. That is to say, if there are three levels of choice-making in the chosen path, new content appears only when a choice on the L3 has been exercised. A path can end at any level. The universal home page for example, ends at L1, whereas choice-making related to team rosters extends all the way to L4. One of the many good things about accordions is that all higher level options always remain in view, along with the options at the current level. And, the selected option at each level is highlighted to enable the user to easily recall his selection path. With the chosen path visible, users also can jump from level to level and choice to choice as they wish to find what they are looking for. If a user can not find what he is looking for on the path he is on, he can easily backtrack by clicking on any visible higher level option and begin his search anew. When jumping between levels and back again, users will notice that accordions also remember the most recent destination under each higher level choice. Other significant website changes/extensions include:Website content under each Level 1 option also has been reorganized in a more logical, intuitive and streamlined manner.More bells & whistles (content/functionality) have been added for clubs and teams, including online complaint/dispute forms, game incident reports and a list of players released in the last 30 days that remain unsigned and age-eligible for your team; The universal Home Page has been redesigned in its entirety. It has a new look and includes new functionality, including a calendar of events and an "ENYTB Playoff Picture If Season Ended Today" that updates continuously throughout the season as each game score is entered. Member logos also will be prominently featured on the new home page (if you haven't already done so, get your club logo uploaded to the website!);Enhanced Advertising Display - Ads will be larger and more prominent when you first visit a page and then, after a few seconds, shrink down in size as the rest of the page content dynamically adjusts to the size of the ad;Update/upgrade game management tools (functions on online schedule that teams use to record revisions made to the status of their games), consistent with the changes recently passed by the Members' Council and Executive Board. New protocols will be shown separately on each game, they will include more automation and they will be easier to use/understand;Tournament Manager - third and final phase of development includes more bells & whistles (content/functionality).The new navigation system, the content reorganization, and the new home page are expected to be available by mid-January. The revised game management functionality and the new additions to regular season functionality will be available before the regular season begins. The extensions to tournament manager will be operational before the tournament season begins.
