Affiliations With CABA & GSA Headline Programmatic Changes For 2011 Season...As our veteran members well know, this league does not stay the same for long. Not only does the mix of clubs and teams change every year, along with the movement of individual players, but the league makes a significant effort to improve its program and operational practi...

Looking Forward to 2011 and Beyond...No league is perfect but we try. Schedule reliability is probably the most common problem shared by all leagues. ENYTB provides teams with a custom schedule yet some teams put little effort into the inputs they provide, under the assumption they can change the schedule any time they want, as they want. This is n...

As you know by now if you have been reading these announcements, ENYTB is the opposite of a one-size-fits-all league. Teams have choices every step of the way, including what "extras" they choose to register for. For example, ENYTB provides teams with centralized access to as many as five different sanctioned National Championship Tournament Series and teams choose which, if any, of these events they wish to register for. ENYTB's registration system is fully ala carte with the exception of a base fee, which covers league overhead, varies by age division and is mandatory. Thus, there is no single overall price paid by all teams. The 2011 fees by fee type are discussed below.Mandatory FeesThe league's base registration fees will remain unchanged from 2010 as follows:13U and over - $400/team;11U/12U - $300/team; and,8U/9U/10U - $250/team.In addition, all member discounts will be continued unchanged as follows: 13U and over - every LoSilver registration will be discounted $50;Clubs with five or more teams shall receive one free registration for every fifth team.Double registration (same roster, two different age divisions) also will be offered free of charge this year (regular season only), compared to $25 last year. NOTE: Double registration is not available to teams at 10U or 12U because teams at the next higher age play on different sized fields.Ala Carte FeesEligibility for all sanctioned National Championship Tournament Series (as many as five per age division) is offered on an optional basis. You may register for as many as you like but you only pay for what you want. And, it is important to note, unless you are paying the full cost of tournament entry (direct buy-in) you are paying only for the opportunity to be eligible for these tournaments. Whether you actually qualify for them also depends on your regular season record e.g, if 10 teams register and only 8 qualify, two teams will not make it. That is one reason why many teams register for more than one.Sanctioning fees, for the most part, represent a transfer payment to the sanctioning bodies i.e., they reflect the total cost to the league for the berths it purchases from each sanctioning body. A portion of the overhead cost for all tournaments hosted by ENYTB also is included in the sanctioning fee. ENYTB hosts one such tournament in each age division. Rival local leagues, such as EMPIRE, host none.Sanctioning fees for AABC, NABF and PONY, including full tournament eligibility, have yet to be exactly determined, but will probably be in the range of $110 to $120/team in 2011. This will represent a modest increase from 2010 for both PONY and AABC but a significant reduction for NABF.The NABF sanctioning fee is reduced because ENYTB has chosen not to host NABF Regional tournaments in 2011. Instead, the league will host tournaments that qualify our teams for NABF Regional tournaments at 14U, 16U, and 22U. (Direct Buy-INs will be available at 18U and Adult.) Teams that win our local Qualifier shall be eligible to draft players prior to advancing to the NABF Regional. The cost savings of this change is being passed through to the membership base in the form of reduced NABF sanctioning/tournament eligibility fees. We expect the sanctioning/tournamnet eligibility fees charged in those age divisions where ENYTB hosts GSA and CABA tournaments will be similar but those fees have not yet been set by thos esannctioning bodies. NOTE: Teams that win an NABF Qualifier are not eligible for any travel allowances to advance to the next level but if they also win the NABF Regional tournament, they will qualify for travel money from NABF (approximately $2,000) in order to advance to their World Series. (ENYTB has produced World Series Champions in each of the last four years!)Tournament Participation Fees will be reduced by 50%!Last year, teams participating in sanctioned tournaments hosted by ENYTB, were required to pay game costs for the first four rounds and the league paid for the last three rounds. This year, teams will be required to pay game costs for only the first two rounds and the league will pay for the last five rounds. This fee will apply to all sanctioned tournaments hosted by ENYTB, including Qualifiers. NOTE: This fee is paid by only those teams actually participating in the tournament and is collected just before the tournament begins.Currently the team registration page, where these choices are made, is blocked from member view because the fees for optional items have not been finalized. We hope to have all fees finalized before the league meetings begin in late January. By then we hope to know all tournament dates as well, and many of the sites. This information will appear on each team's registration page when it is unblocked.
