New Program Announcement - ENYTB PONY House Leagues - Ground Floor Opportunities Now Available - Play Begins In The 2009 Season!!!
posted by Administrator 12/07/2008 09:12:14
To: All Members:During the 2008 season, I had discussions with several members who operated their own house leagues under other affiliations/sanctioning bodies. In general, there was much dissatisfaction over issues such as lost territory, territory restrictions, cost, poor tournament management and organization, disagreement over playing rules and field sizes etc. I asked these members if they would be interested in an ENYTB/PONY solution that could be adopted either as a complement to a member's existing house program or a replacement for it. The reply was an overwhelming yes. Since that time, with the assistance of Don Rahn, and feedback from members, I have been designing a new league product that I have dubbed "ENYTB PONY House Leagues (PHL)". NOTE: The PONY House League (PHL) concept is applicable ONLY to ENYTB Franchise members that operate their own house leagues. Under this initiative, franchise members from smaller contiguous areas that individually lack the size to operate a house league, would be allowed to ban together to form a PHL "consortium". PHLs can operate as a wrap-around or stand alone house league product and they are designed to dovetail with a member's continued participation in ENYTB travel. And, in fact, PHLs are available to ENYTB franchise members only. PHLs can include any and all age groups from the very young, aged 7-8, all the way up to the not so very young, aged 18+. Thus, a PHL can supplement or supplant existing programs affiliated with Little League, Cal Ripken and/or Babe Ruth.I am currently making appointments with interested members to meet with them to discuss this exciting new opportunity. There are currently 8 interested parties. However, I'm sure not everyone knew this opportunity existed and this announcement is designed to increase awareness of this program. If your organization operates its own house league and would like to learn more about ENYTB's new concept re: PONY House Leagues, please contact me (Ed Frye at 518-356-9089 or fryes@nycap.rr.com) to set up a meeting. We are moving fast and would like to have all meetings concluded by early December so that the planning needs associated with adopting a new program can be fully accommodated. So, if you are interested, don't delay, call me anytime when the NFL is not on! This would make regular season play count for something and it would extend playing opportunities for the top recreational program teams in the area. If possible, the tournament would be scheduled around the sanctioned PONY ALL-STAR Tournament so that the recreational teams would be at full strength. Some members have expressed dissatisfaction with various aspects of how the league's standings are currently constructed. In general, some would prefer a simplification of the standings that would result in a much higher percentage of all games played to count in the determination of the sanctioned tournament berth winners. The system that has been ... read more
