ENYTB Official Playing Rules - 2008 Updates are Uploaded
posted by Administrator 03/21/2008 08:03:28
All of the revisions/extensions to playing rules adopted by the league for 2008 (and there are many e.g., NCAA Force Play Slide Rule at ALL ages) are now available online via a pdf read/print function at League Info > Playing Rules.NOTE re: 9/10U - Please read rules 8, 8A and 8B re: field dimensions, leading, stealing and balks. In general, the rules differ according to the following age groupings:(1) 9/10U(2) 11/12U(3) 13 to 18U(4) 22U/AdultNOTE: For 9/10U, there are currently two sets of rules on the website - ignore the set that is titled "League Playing Rules 9/10U" and use the link entitled "Rules - 9/10U". The prior set is an old set and will be deleted from the website as soon as we add a delete function!By converting the rules files to pdf files, they are now much easier for members to read and print. These rules are VERY IMPORTANT. They have evolved over 13 years and are quite comprehensive. Every member dispute and/or protest will be resolved according to theletter of these rules as well as the Constitution, also available on the website. It is strongly recommended that every manager and coach print these rules from the website, read them and bring a copy to every game for easy reference (it is very difficult, if not impossible, to commit all of them to memory and they change marginally as teams age up). Every year we have teams wing it and not read the rules and get themselves into a lot of strange and bad situations. I don't know know why anyone would do that but it is more the rule than the exception. By making it easier to print the rules off the website, I hope more of you take the time and make the effort to understand the protocols rules beforehand. There are approximately 25 rules divided into 5 sections:(1) EQUIPMENT(2) UMPIRES(3) OFFICIAL GAMES(4) PLAYER ELIGIBILITY(5) MISCELLANEOUSSection II deals with many things that are more standard protocol than they are playing rules per se. If anyone notices anything thatthey think is wrong or different than was decided at our age division meetings, please bring it to my attention ASAP.Happy reading!Ed
