We had good attendance at yesterday's meetings. Much time was spent in the 17/18U meeting discussing the issue of wood bats and all members present unanimously voted to ban metal bats in the regular season. In the post-season the NABF 17/18U NCTS is limited to wood bats and next year, AABC 18U will be as well.Much time also was spent discussing post-season options at 17U, 17/18U and 18U and how many berths we have and how they are allocated to divisions and how teams are placed in divisions. The overall berth ratio in this age division is presently just above 50%, meaning that on average, one team out two will will a berth to a sanctioned post-season tournament series. Teams that sign up for two or more options therefore, have a high probability of earning a berth to at least one post-season series. We also discussed the unique NABF High School World Series for 17U teams (player age cut-off 12/30 instead of 4/30 i.e., players 17 years old on 12/30/2007 qualify as 17 years old for this tournament). This tournament is available on a direct buy-in basis and will be held in Lynchburg, VA this year. Includes college scouts and central facility is Pittsburgh Pirates minor league facility (Class A?).Discussion in the 15/16U meeting focused on actions by the league in policing tampering. Both age levels voted to buy berths to the mid-August ECTB tournaments rather than Labor Day, as the top prize in teh League's Age Division Championship tournaments this year ($350 entry fee this year, with your money back if you fail to qualify and $5,000 in team and player prizes based on 24 registered teams). Registration for the League Championship tournaments should be made by April 6, same as sanctioned tournaments. Late registrations will be accepted up until a team begins play. Remember, regular season results will determine qualification, placement and seeding. Anyone who could not make the meeting and would like an electronic copy of the 16 page handout explaining the entire ENYTB program for 2008 should drop me an email (indicate 15/16 or 17/18) and I will get it out to you pronto. All teams are expected to complete their online team registration and make payment as soon as possible and no later than April 6. When payment is received I will contact your club/team re: collection of scheduling info. Clubs/teams that feel comfortable entering this info to the website themselves may do so. Please email me that you have done so and I will quickly check it over for completeness. In about 10 weeks everyone will have their schedules, fully customized to when your team is available to play, when your home field is available, the post-season options you registered for and the level of competition you selected. Games also will be scheduled to minimize travel travel distances on weekdays.Thank you.Edfryes@nycap.rr.comed@runmyleague.com
