Last year, after the season began, we received an unusual amount of member feedback about the League's playing rules. Mark Sidoti (Waterford Fordians 22U) Awarded NABF Scholarship for $1,000.
posted by Administrator 12/20/2007 04:12:17
Congratulations to Mark Sidoti, son of Doug Sidoti, manager of the Waterford team in our College Division for winning an NABF Scholarship for the 2007 academic year. ENYTB contributes to the NABF Scholarship fund each year and Mark is our first ever winner.I met up with Mark over the Thanksgiving holiday, along with his dad and a special friend, to present him with his award. Mark is majoring in Biology at SUNY Plattsburgh where he is in his Junior year. He is also a very personable and outstanding young man, and was deeply appreciative of the award. We also talked about the upcoming season and he mentioned how much he is looking forward to playing this year and that he is very optimistic about his team's chances at earning a return trip to the College World Series in 2008. I would not bet against him!As I mention every year, NABF provides league players with a very realistic opportunity for student scholarships. NABF received 22 completed applications in 2007 and awarded 12 scholarships. That is about the best odds you will find anywhere. So, those of you that are entering or returning to college in 2008 and participate in ENYTB, what are you waiting for - go to:http://www.nabf.com/membership/scholarships.htmand click on the link for "scholarship application" and get going. Remember, it's even money that if you apply, you will be successful, provided of course, that you are maintaining good grades. Now that Mark has broken the ice, I look forward to meeting next year's winner(s) from our league. Who knows, maybe Mark can be a back-to-back winner.
