The 2008 Kick-Off Meetings will be remembered as the longest in league history - almost 7 hours for the two days combined! We got started a little late on Saturday, about 1:15PM and the room was still close to full at 5:00PM. On Sunday we started on time and finished at 4:00PM.For more than 50% of the attendees on both days, this was their first ev...

Last year, after the season began, we received an unusual amount of member feedback about the League's playing rules. A number of folks were clamoring for a mercy rule and for adoption of the NCAA force play slide rule. The League's Executive Board voted unanimously to adopt both rules. It also was time to enumerate specific penalties for ejections...

This is a brand new World Series site for NABF 17U and I had the opportunity to sit with the people that made the successful bid at the recent national NABF meeting in Louisville, KY. Trust me on this one, this promises to be one of the finest events ever held for this age division and a memorable experience for all.The playing sites will be City Stadium, home of the Hillcats (the Pittsburgh Pirates Single A team), Liberty University Stadium (unbelievable venue) and other selected college and high school facilities. A player reception is planned for all teams at Cattle Annie's at no charge, including buffet, tournament T-shirts, several guest speakers and live entertainment from Nashville, TN. (Randy Montana). Parents and guests will be able to purchase dinner tickets at door.Following the reception, everyone will head to Hillcats Stadium for opening ceremonies and a night of fun that promises to be a memory of a lifetime. Virginia NABF is the host and will provide transportation from hotels to Cattle Annie's, from Cattle Annie's to City Stadium and back to Hotels after the Hillcats' game. for opening day ceremonies. Shuttle buses will be scheduled for various hotels to the stadium and return.Lynchburg, VA is approximately 8 hours drive from Albany (about 500 miles). The NABF High School World Series (17U) usually draws about 40 teams from around the country, including Hawaii in 2007. College scouts are usually in attendance. The age cut-off date is Dec 31 - if you are 17 years old on Dec 31 you qualify as age eligible. This is four more months of eligibility that is usually the case in sanctioned summer baseball leagues. There are no tournaments leading into the HS World Series, all entries are direct-in on a first come first served basis. In the past, ENYTB has offered these berths to its members on a direct basis and will continue to do so. By guaranteeing entry months ahead, teams can plan ahead for fund-raising, transportation etc. The entry fee is $350. Tournament format is pool play followed by single elimination. If teams preferred to compete for entry, as we do for berths in the regular Nation Championship Tournament Series, the league could arrange that as well. This will be discussed at the 17U registration meeting in late February. This tournament begins play on July 24. ENYTB hosts the 18U NABF Regional on the previous weekend and the 18U NABF World Series is not until July 31 (Jackson, MS.). Thus, it would be possible for an 18U team to play in the High School World Series (w PLAYERS AGED 17 AND UNDER ON DEC 31) and still participate in the full NABF 18U National Championship Tournament Series. The NABF 16U World Series is at the same time as the High School World School so 16U teams could not do both.
After a one year hiatus, the NABF College Division (22U) World Series returns to Toledo, OH, sponsored by the City Of Toledo and the Toledo Amateur Baseball Federation. This 16 team event includes various Regional Champions, direct teams, and host teams and, is planned to take place at various local college facilities, including: University of Tol...
