LINEUP CARDS - The website will include a new feature in 2008 that will allow teams to quickly prepare and print their team lineup cards online. Teams will select their starting players from a list that includes all players on their active ENYTB roster. Teams also will be asked to indicate each player's fielding position and where they will appear in the batting order. The rest of the form will be completed automatically, including all possible substitute players, and every player's uniform number. The league name and both team names, along with where and when the game will be played, also is printed at the top of the line-up card.As a major bonus, this form will also include all players on your opponent's active roster, also listed by uniform number. This will allow teams to scratch off their opponent's eligible players as they enter the game.SCORING and HIGHLIGHT SUMMARY - When teams enter their game scores they will be asked to provide the score by half inning. This information will be used to construct a game report, complete with a brief summary of game highlights, reported in half-inning increments as they occur along with the score of the game at the end of each half inning for which a highlight is provided. BOXSCORE - For teams that enter their PLAYER STATS to the website, the GAME REPORT will also include a full boxscore of the game, with separate boxes for hitters and pitchers. The GAME REPORT will integrate the GAME SCORE, HIGHLIGHT SUMMARY and BOXSCORE into a single report that will be available online for viewing by the public and emailed to each team's local newspapers with a single click of the mouse! GAME REPORT will be available for all games listed on a team's online schedule as well as all its tournament games. Access to PLAYER STAT/GAME REPORT will also be available to non-league teams that participate in ENYTB sponsored tournaments or sanctioned tournaments hosted by ENYTB. In addition, our search function for League Leaders (PLAYER STATS) also is being extended to include selection of season by year and type (summer, fall) as well as by career (all years) and tournament play for current year. Also, player stats can now be entered separately for each game of a doubleheader. We have been promising a comprehensive GAME REPORT summary with direct email capability for a while and now it is a reality, along with the new lineup card feature as a bonus. ENJOY! MEDIA COVERAGE - At possibly 200 teams strong in 2008 (3,000 players) and hosting nearly 30 tournaments, ENYTB is by far the greatest purveyor of summer baseball in this area yet we remain relatively unknown beyond our own members. To help make this league's presence better known, the league has adopted a three prong strategy. The first prong includes appointment of a League Press Agent to handle all publicity with the local media with the focus of increasing public awareness of our program, including the many tournaments we host. We are grateful to Tim Bruculure for accepting the appointment to be the league's first ever Press Agent. If anyone has contacts in the print media or other media that could be of assistance in this endeavor, please let Tim or myself know. The second prong of our strategy is the website itself. Our website, especially the Inside The League menu, was designed to facilitate self-service real-time media coverage of the league without log-in and w/o having to interface with league officials. The third prong is our new Game Report feature, described above. What are the advantages to the league of publicity? One, obviously, is recognition for our current teams and players. Two, is recognition of the league itself, to help us to continue growing. And third, by developing a public awareness in the communities we serve, it is hoped that we can attract corporate sponsorship to help underwrite the cost of hosting sanctioned tournaments, thereby resulting in lower member fees and consequently, even more growth. The more we grow, the more teams we have in each age and competition level, resulting in better schedules for everyone and the more we can spread the overhead of hosting tournaments, thereby lowering rates even further. Nothing makes us happier than to be able to keep giving you more for less!
