After a one year hiatus, the NABF College Division (22U) World Series returns to Toledo, OH, sponsored by the City Of Toledo and the Toledo Amateur Baseball Federation. This 16 team event includes various Regional Champions, direct teams, and host teams and, is planned to take place at various local college facilities, including: University of Toledo (Scott Park); Ned Skeldon Stadium; Bowman Park; Byrne Park; and, Joe E. Brown Park. This promises to be a great event. Last year the Long Island Titans defeated the Waterford Fordians in a tightly contested championship game to advance from our regional. The year before it was the Waterford Fordians prevailing and the year before the that it was a tight 3-waybattle between the Long Island Astros, the Schenectady CC team and the So. Troy Dodgers - the latter featuring many players that had played up through ENYTB over the years. The Astros won that year and two years later, in 2007, the Astros team won all the marbles at the College World Series. The moral of the story is that college teams from this area have gone toe-to-toe with the best college teams in the entire NABF organization and have more than held their own. In 2007 ENYTB filled 6 berths in our regional tournament and all but two teams won at least one game. ENYTB teams finished 2nd and 3rd (Utica Falcons) and, the Adirondacks lost games by scores of 2-1 and 1-0 to eventual Champion, the LI Titans and the 4th place finisher, the NY Angels. See Tournaments > Brackets to see results from ALL ENYTB hosted tournaments in 2007, including sanctioned and league sponsored events.Early sign-ups in the college division for the 2008 season are well ahead of pace from last year. We expect 12 to 16 Gold teams in the college division before we close registration. The league qualifies for a maximum of 7 tournament berths, including host. For the last two year we have hosted this tournament at fields in both Bethlehem and Waterford and will do so again in 2008. That tournament kicks-off on July 31. The League is considering adding a late-season College All-Star game in 2008 as well.ENYTB welcomes all returning and new members in this prestigious division and invites other college-aged teams both locally and in surrounding areas to contact us to learn about the fastest growing summer college program in Upstate NY (Ed at (518 356-9089 or fryes@nycap.rr.com). NOTE: All ENYTB College Division teams also are eligible for additional post-season opportunities through ENYTB's Adult Division under both NABF and AABC.
