Meeting came to order at 5:00PM.Handouts were distributed, including extras from our Annual Kick-Off Meeting.Present from the Executive Board were:Ed Frye, President and Executive DirectorMark Musto, Director and 17/18 Division CoordinatorDon Rahn, SecretaryAttendance was excellent with nearly all teams represented. In fact, in all the years of this League, this was the first time that meeting attendance exceeded my expectations to the point we ran out of hand-outs! The meeting was extremely productive and I would like to thank everyone in attendance, including my fellow Board Members, for a highly interactive and interesting meeting. (1) Age Division Coordinators were introduced:17U Division - Mark Musto, Guilderland-Albany-Waterford Yankees18U Division - Mark Musto, Guilderland-Albany-Waterford YankeesThe Division Coordinator has overall responsibility for the organization and operation of his age division, including the supervision of any Division Directors (see item (2) next) assigned to their age division. Each Division Coordinator shares responsibility with the League's Executive Director for the structuring of all divisional competitions for AABC, NABF and PONY sanctioned tournament berths in his division. DCs are provided ADMIN access codes to the website so that they can see each member's information on the website. Thus, DCs can help instruct their Division Directors on website navigational questions as they arise in their division. (2) Division Directors were introduced:17U - Dave Gage - GOLD and SILVER18U - Dave Gage - Gold and Silver Our thanks to Dave. Without volunteers like Dave, the system can come to a grinding halt. I hope we can get another volunteer to serve as either 17/18 Silver Div Director or the 17U Gold/Silver Div Director. This League is structured such that each team's first contact for information is its owner rep. After that, the Division Directors serve as each team's main contact with the League in terms of both League and website operations. The responsibilities of each team to his division director are outlined on each Division News Board on the website (each age division has its own News Board, separate from the League-wide News Board that appears on the public home page - go to Team Home/Communication). These responsibilities include: each team must provide its DD with a printed and signed AABC roster (roster print function is temporarily disconnected while online roster capability is being revised and extended for 2006 season), a copy of each player's birth cert., a copy of your team insurance etc. (3) Handout re: Website OverviewEd Frye directed a broad discussion of website features and navigational procedures.(4) ENYTB Regular Season Playing RulesENYTB rules include the Offical Rules of Major League Baseball excepted as modified by this League. The League rules (exceptions etc.) are available on the website. Umpires can not be expected to know each League's rules. Because of this, all teams are urged to keep a copy of these rules with their scorebook and have them available at all games. You can use the PDF print function available on website to print a copy of the rules. Alternatively, you can use your browser function "Save Page As" to save this file to your hard disk (give it a name) where it can be opened by most word processors. The latter technique us generally applicable to downloading any page from the website and editing it before printing (gets rid of unwanted content before printing e.g., color graphics etc.). NOTE: ALL teams are expected to use a high quality baseball - minimum standard being a high school quality baseball.(5) Opening WeekendRather than use the "normal" opening weekend format of playing games on neutral fields to the extent such fields are available, it was agreed that all games in the 17/18 age divisions on this weekend would be played on the home fields of each home team. Opening Weekend Team Availability - Since Opening Weekend (Memorial Day Weekend) is scheduled first (at least in the age divisions 13U and up) your team availability for that weekend must be entered and confirmed on the website by April 15. Opening Weekend is expected to be fully scheduled by about May 1. To enter your team's opening weekend availability simply click Opening weekend on your team availability page. Teams that have several players on high school teams that make it deep into Sectional competition are allowed to postpone their opening weekend games when it becomes known that they will have a significant conflict. (6) Handout re: Slate Of Entry-Level 17/18 Sanctioned TournamentsThe League has one berth in the PONY 18 tournament and offers it on a direct buy-in basis. The Rotterdam Rangers 17 team has participated in the PONY post-season tournament every year and has purchased that berth on a first come first served basis. That tournament will be hosted in Brooklyn, NY on July 21. 17U ONLY.............AABCANNOUNCEMENT: ENYTB has agreed to host the UNYSABA Championship (AABC) 17U tournament. It will be hosted at Bethlehem on July 29. Based on current registrations (9 teams), ENYTB will have 3 berths in that tournament, including the extra berth for hosting that tournament. NABFNABF offers a direct buy-in to a 17U High School World Series. This is a week long tournament beginning July 20 in Greensboro, NC. It includes 42 highly competitive teams, is played on the best fields in the area and is highly attended by college scouts. The age cutoff for this tournament is JAN 1 - any player not turning 18 before JAN 1 is age-eligible.18U...............AABCThe UNSABA Championship tournament will be hosted locally, beginning July 20. 17U teams are eligible for this tournament if they double register at 18U ($65). However, a 17U team that wins berths in both 17U and 18U must select one or the other (AABC rules).NABFENYTB is hosting the NABF Regional tournament at 18U, beginning July 21. All 17U and 18U teams are eligible to participate in this tournament by paying the tournament eligibility fee. Because of the date conflict, no team will be able to play in both the AABC 18 and NABF 18 tournaments this year. However, it can be worth registering for both so as to increase the likelihood that you will win a berth in at least one.Summary of Tournament Eligibility:17U Teams - eligible for 17U AABC and 17U NABF and 18U NABF. If they want to be eligible for AABC 18U too, they must double register as an 18U team. A 17U team could participate in both the NABF 18U and AABC 17U tournaments because they are on different weekends.18U teams - eligible for both AABC 18 and NABF 18.(7) Handout re: Team Registration Page (from website).A copy of a team's registration page was presented for illustrative purposes.
