SAT, MAR 31 (a week from tomorrow) is the deadline for everything butrosters, including:(1) Team Registration ChoicesEven if you want no postseason options, please save your registrationpage once on the website so that it records the date as confirmationthat you want nothing extra. I apologize to Jeff Pexton and the UticaFalcons for not taking notice of this for their younger teams!(2) Postseason Tournament EligibilitySanctioned - Please select 2 boxes if you want to be tournamenteligible.(a) Select the appropriate sanctioning; and,(b) Select the corresponding tournament hosting fee.To be eligible you must pay both a sanctioning fee and a hosting fee.We call the latter an eligibility fee. Many teams at the younger agedivisions have been selecting the sanctioning fee only. It is wastedmoney to be sanctioned but not tournament eligible.(3) Player ReleasesThe authority for releasing players resides with club reps/ownersunder our Constitution i.e., club owners/reps release players - NOTTEAM managers, coaches, primary contacts etc. That is why peoplelogged in as teams don't see a release button on their rosters. To release a player:(a) Team people must tell their club reps/owners to release playersfrom their rosters for them (no paperwork required); or,(b) have your club rep send an email to his league rep approving hisleague rep to release him for him. I would appreciate being cc'd onall player releases by email. (4) ****Required Info***(a) Complete contact info must be entered for all team managers, coaches, primary contacts and other contacts. The manager and coachinfo will be entered to all rosters automatically. This informationis also crucial for contact purposes from the league and othermembers.(b) Make sure ALL your home fields have excellent field directionsentered.(5) Team's Game Availability (home and away combined).Be ready to answer detailed questions about your team's gameavailability. Remember, game availability includes away and homegames. In most cases, teams will be available much more than fields.(a) we also need to know how many games you want us to schedule foryou during your regular season (defined by 3 days before the start oflast sanctioned tournament) you are registered to be eligible for. Ifno tournaments, then assume 7/15. Total games includes "must play"games required as a result of your registration choices as well asany extra games you may want during the same period. For example, youmay have 18 must play games and you request 24 games, meaning youwould like 24 scheduled games including both must play games andextra games.NOTE:If you have registered for the D/L Championship tournament, there is no time for "extra" games after your regular season.(b) We also need to know your wildcard preferences. Of course, wedon't know what wildcards will be available until after registrationcloses. Nonetheless, we want to know what your preferences are so wecan put you in the divisions that you want to be in.Gold has two choices: G-G and G-S. If you are a gold team you need totell us which you prefer and if you would like both if possible. Wedon't know ahead of time the exact # of must play games required todo both and that # might exceed the # of games you asked for.WC = LimitedWC = UnlimitedLimited means we will not put you in a wildcard division if itresults in more MP games than the total # of games you requested.Unlimited means you want to be in all wildcard divisions you areeligible for regardless of the game total. Alternatively, you cangive us two #s, a preferred game total and a max total e.g.,24G/Max30.(6) Field AvailabilityIf you are giving us field data we will be asking you if you want tohost on OW and if you are willing to host "3rd party" games i.e.,games not involving your clubs. As everyone knows, we have changed OWformat a bit this year and letting each host have all his teams playat home this year. In some cases however, game slots will be leftover and we would like to fill your field with 3rd party games ifthat is OK with you.(7) Do a SENSIBILITY CHECK on your team and field availability beforeyou give it to us. If you ask for 30 games and provide us TA for only 20 games, youaren't going to get 30 games. Sounds simple, but a few teams do thisevery year. Same with field availability. If you have 7 teams andthey each ask for 20 games = 140 games divided by 2 = 70 home gamesfor a 50% ratio. If you only give me 40 game slots don't bedisappointed when your teams are on the road 75% of the time. (a) TA rule of thumb - teams need to be available for at least 1.5 #of games requested. If you ask for 20 games, make sure your TA = atleast 30 games. The more TA you give me, the better will be yourschedule. The more flexibility you give the better I can distributeyour schedule to play out in a great season.(b) FA rule of thumb - if your team is the only team using yourfield, then the ratio remains the same, about 1.5 home field slotsfor every home game required should work out. You do have to makesure, however, that your team is available when your field availableor it doesn't matter how many field slots you give me. For example, your team is available on MWF and SUN but your field is available onTTH and SAT. Guess what, you get no home games. Most clubs "pool" their field time across all their teams, leaving tome to find what works for each team. This provides me with maximumflexibility and benefits the club because I need less extra datese.g., you have 7 teams with 70 total home games. 1.5 would imply over100 game slots on an individual team basis with 35 unused slots in theend. But, with 7 different teams sucking from the same straw, so tospeak, 80 or 85 slots is probably sufficient to provide each with 50%home game fills. Of course, when data is pooled, each team must make sure its TA hassufficient overlap with the FA submitted by its club to get its fairshare of home dates. The more overlap between a team's TA and FA themore likely that team will do well in getting its home dates properlyscheduled. That should be enough to get you going. We have a lot of work to doover the next 7 days. NOTE: Scheduling for 10-11-12 should be completed by late next weekso we are still on schedule. What's next:Once registration closes on April 1, I will construct divisions(berth competitions) by looking at registrations in each division (#of teams by color registered for each tournament type) as well aseach team's requested # of games and wildcard preferences. Once Ihave everybody in their various divisions, each team's must playopponents and games are known and I can begin scheduling like maduntil I announce I'm done i.e. the schedule is official. Until theleague schedule is official, do NOT ASSUME YOUR schedule (whichpopulates on your team's home page are as each game is entered) isdone. Every game is subject to change until the last game isscheduled. However, as stated before, if you notice that I amviolating constraints that you gave me e.g., no back-to-back DHs orI'm putting your games on the wrong home field, please let me knowASAP.Get To Work!
