As previously announced, returning clubs/teams were required to activate with the league by Sunday, Feb 25, in order to continue their player protection rights in this league. It is still possible for returning clubs/teams to activate up until April 1st but w/o player protection. The list of clubs failing to activated themselves is presented at the bottom of this announcemnt. The reason the league goes through this process at this time each year is to make the eligible player pool as large as possible for all our active teams. Thus, anyone with interest in any of the many players who are now free agents as a result of today's action, is encouraged to act swiftly to determine if the player would like to play for your team in the upcoming season, and if so, to add that player to your roster ASAP to establish your league rights to the player. In addition, we have other clubs that activated some but not all of their teams from last year. The league has released ALL players from ALL unactivated team, regardless of the status of the club. Thus, for those clubs that consolidated two teams into one this year, and activated only one, you will need to reclaim those players ASAP on your active team's roster to avoid another club/team from claiming those players as Free Agents. Don't snooze on this because we can not help you after the fact. All clubs that failed to activate for the upcoming season have lost all player rights in this league i.e., all players appearing on the rosters of any teams owned by these clubs in the previous year have been reclassified as free agents. In addition, those clubs that had exclusive franchises at 15U and under e.g., Queensbury and West Albany, have also surrendered their territotial rights in accordance with our league's constitution. Thus, Queensbury (Queensbury SD) and West Albany (which includes all of the So. Colonie SD) are now reclassified as "open areas" and are available for reassignment to new franchise members or as secondary areas to existing franchises that adjoin those areas. If interested, please contact me.Lastly, Clifton Park Baseball has informed ENYTB that it intends to participate as a "non-exclusive" member in 2007, thereby forfeiting all its rights as an ENYTB franchise holder i.e., CPBL loses all its player protection rights in this league at all age levels as well as its right to prevent someone else from establishing an exclusive franchise in the Shen SD. (Note: All teams, once registered in ENYTB, are granfathered in the league as long as they maintain continuous participation.)To complicate matters further, despite indicating its intention to activate certain teams in ENYTB for the upcoming season, they have failed to do so. As a result, CPBL's rights to players residing in the SHEN SD, whether they played in this league for CPBL last year or not is as follows:(1) All players residing in the Shen SD and playing for a CPBL team in this league last year, are free agents from now until April 1.(2) Any player residing in the SHEN SD that did not play for any ENYTB team last year (formerly restricted free agents), is a free agent without time limit.(3) CPBL/ENYTB players from last year shall remain free agents after April 1 until CPBL registers a team in this league and adds the player, with his consent, to the roster of such team. Thus, assuming CPBL registers teams with ENYTB, as it has stated it intends to do, all its players from the prior year year will remain free agents until CPBL actually adds them to a bonafide ENYTB roster. If another ENYTB club/team adds a CPBL player from the prior year to his team roster, with the player's consent, before CPBL does, the player's rights shall belong to the team that first added the player to his roster. Remember, before adding any player to your team roster, that player must consent to playing for your team.---------------------------------------------------------The following club/teams failed to re-activate for 2007. The number of travel teams the club registered in this league last year is given along with effect in their change of status. Anyone wanting information on the status of individual players may contact their league rep or myself.NOTE: If any of these teams activate/register late, they will be subject to the same provisions as listed above for CPBL.(1) Queensbury Youth Baseball (3 teams) - abandoned its franchise (Queensbury SD) and surrenders all player and territory rights in this league.(2) West Albany (3 teams) - abandoned its franchise (So. Colonie SD) and surrenders all player and territory rights in this league. NOTE: Its 22U team is activated and being continued as a single team "limited" franchise only, with no territorial rights.(3) ADK Heat (1 team) - abandoned its sub-franchise (Queensbury SD) and surrenders all player rights in this league.(4) ADK T'Breds (1 team) - abandoned its sub-franchise (Saratoga SD) and surrenders all player rights in this league.(5) NY Thunder (1 team) - abandoned its limited franchise (open competitive) and surrenders all player rights in this league.(6) Generals (6 teams) - Suspended by ENYTB for the 2007 season. Loses all player rights. (NOTE: Utica members don't have territorial rights.)(7) Bennington Baseball (3 teams) - abandoned its limited franchise (open competitive) and surrenders all player rights in this league.(8) Cillis Builders (1 team) - abandoned its sub-franchise (No. Colonie SD) and surrenders all player rights in this league.(9) No. Colonie Cyclones (1 team) - abandoned its sub-franchise (No. Colonie SD) and surrenders all player rights in this league.(10) Hoosic Valley Beavers (1 team) - abandoned its limited franchise (open competitive) and surrenders all player rights in this league.
A few of last year's clubs still have not activated with the league for 2007. Some we understand will not be returning e.g., Queensbury and West Albany (except for 22U). Others e.g., Clifton Park, are unclear. Either way, all our declared teams are currently stalemated from adding players from the rosters of "undeclared" teams from last year. There...
