11U/12U meeting began at 6:00PM @SMS. Jeff Pexton, the 11U/12U LC was absent due to illness. The same handout was prepared and distributed and a similar meeting agenda was followed. Registrations in 12U stood at 16 teams. Since then Cillus Builders had to drop out but W Albany has entered a team. At this point we have 10 Gold teams and 6 Silver teams. Only 50'6"/70' fields will be used in this division. 12 of the 16 teams have one or more regulation sized fields. Some field time may be rented as well. It was agreed that the 11U division, likely consisting of four gold teams only, will play an interlocking schedule with the 12U Silver Division. This was done last year and proved very successful. Each age division will be competing for berths to separate tournaments. It also was agreed that umpires would be allowed to give at least one balk warning with instruction by the ump if they like. All playing rules from last year's 11U/12U division were accepted except for the catcher contact rule was modified as follows: Runner must either slide OR, if upright, avoid significant contact with the catcher in the vicinity of home plate. Head first slides are legal at all bases although it was recommended that runners not be taught to slide headfirst into the catcher. ENYTB team registration process was presented and discussed. It was agreed that all teams would be fully registered by APR 1, including team registration selections, payment and pre-scheduling info. Rosters are required on the website along with a signed copy of the AABC roster to the LC prior to each team's first game. Teams can begin and end their seasons as they choose. No games on Easter weekend. Unlike the 10U division, most teams present at 11U/12U indicated they would not play on Mother's Day. Memorial Day Weekend will be played as regular season games but on neutral fields in tradition of ENYTB. The AABC State tournament for 11U/12U will be hosted at Ilion, NY beginning July 13. The League should have 5 to 6 berths in that tournament. A divisional structure will be established circa 4/1 by Jeff and myself. This will include regular and wildcard divisions, the earmarking of tournament berths, the establishment of head-to-head must play requirements and team placements. A PONY berth is available to this division as well. Meeting adjourned at 8:00PM.
