How did I decide which teams got into wildcard divisions and whichdidn't?STEP 1 - All teams were put in every wildcard division they wereeligible for (unless the team directed otherwise) and theresulting number of must play games was computed and compared to thenumber of game slots each team had available for scheduling as thetotal number of games requested. NOTE: Because the head-to-head must play requirement in wildcarddivisions is one, remote teams that play all or mostly DHs are noteligible for wildcard play e.g., Utica teams.RULE: When # of must play games > 80% of available game slots (teamavailability)teams are dropped from wildcards one at a time until 80%ratio is achieved. Every year teams by the dozens see games appear and go off halfcocked thinking that is their schedule. It's NOT! Some games arechanged numerous times along the way before the schedule isfinalized. This is a 3 to 4 week process. It's not over til its over.You are welcome to watch and to let me know if I've done somethingwrong i.e., in violation of your instructions. Better that I catchmistakes early. Some of you may have a full or nearly full schedulein the first week, others may not have anything scheduled two weeksinto the process. This is normal. I schedule in layers (approximately30 last year) and the timing of when I schedule your team depends onwhat layer your team happens to fall in and that depends on manyfactors.
