You guys took it easy on me this weekend. Only three requests forchanges were made. One was easy to do (NYCDK got a twi-night DH4/29), one was impossible (no opponent was available), and one wasaccepted but withdrawn. Also, the roster print function on teh website is now working for allteams (if I'm wrong on that let me know but I logged in as a cl... read more

Final Team Count - 23 Total Teams (5 Gold; 15 Silver; and 3 Bronze)NOTES:(i) Six teams still have not paid.(ii) One team (CNY Naturals) still has no scheduling data entered. This was a difficult age to set up because teams have threeconsecutive sanctioned tournaments they can be eligible for beginningthe last weekend of June, making for a very short regular season (5weeks for some teams). The short season puts added pressure thenumber of "must play" games each team can handle. Because of this, many of you who signed up for all three tournaments are not in everywildcard division. (A) 14U WILDCARD DIVISIONS (4)AABC14(1) Gold-Silver (1 berth)(2) Silver-Silver (1 berth)NABF14(3) Gold-Silver (1 berth)PONY14(4) Gold-Silver (1 berth)How did I decide who got in and who didn't?I began by putting all teams in every wildcard division they wereeligible for (unless the team directed otherwise) and compared theresulting number of must play games for each team to the number ofgame slots the team it was available for scheduling. NOTE: Because the head-to-head must play requirement in wildcarddivisions is one, remote teams that play all or mostly DHs are noteligible for wildcard play e.g., Utica teams and Rutland.RULE: Teams with more or approximately the same number of must playgames compared to game slots available for sceheduling, were droppedfrom at least certain wildcards. This happened only in the Silver Division, where the high number ofteams registered as Silver (15) made must play requirements higherthan usual. In some cases I was forced to make the regular divisionhead-to-head must play requirement = 1 just so that I could geteverybody into at least a regular division for each of thetournaments they registered for. (a) Silver teams with insufficient team availability were removedfrom Gold-Silver WCs first. (b) If (a) was insufficient then teams were removed from some or allsilver -silver wildcards, until the number of MP was about 80% oftotal available game slots. (2) REGULAR DIVISIONSAABC14(1) Gold (1 berth)(2) Silver/Bronze: North/East (1 berth)(3) Silver/Bronze:South/West (1 berth)There were only two bronze teams that registered for AABC and theywere included in the silver AABC berth competition. Thus, 3 berths are earmarked to divisions with silver/bronze teamsand only one berth is earmarked to the gold vision. This is becausethe silver/bronze includes 14 AABC registered teams and the Goldincludes only 5. However, it is highly likely that a 2nd gold teamwould win the gold-silver wildcard berth. Under this assumption:gold ratio (berths/teams) = 40%silver-bronze ratio = 21%This seems to be a fair allocation. Gold teams have a better chancebased on their berth ratio but they must play much toughercompetition (other gold teams) to earn a berth.NABF14(1) Gold (2 berths for 4 registrants = 50% berth ratio)(2) Silver (2 berths for 10 registrants - 20% berth ratio)In addition to these 4 NABF14 berths, a 5th berth is allocated thegold-siver wildcard division above, a 6th goes to our host, No.Colonie Padres14, and the 7th goes to the 13U Division, which hasthree teams registered for this tournament.PONY14(1) Gold - 1 berth for 2 registrants = 50% berth ratio, excl WC(2) Silver - 2 berths for 7 registrants = 29% berth ratio excl WC(3) Bronze - 1 berth for 1 registrant (lucky LIBL Cards) = 100% berthratioThis is the first year we offered a PONY Sectional tournament and ithas proven faily popular with members, with 10 total registrations, compared to 14 for NABF14 and 17 for AABC. HOSTS:PONY14 - to be determinedAABC14 - none (we don't host)NABF14 - No. Colonie Padres14Altogether, ENYTB will award 17 sanctioned tournament berths in the14U Division this year: AABC/5; NABF/6 and PONY/6 for an overallberth ratio of 73%!!! Think of this when someone tells you this league is a rip-off. Ourberth ratio is 73%!!! That is substantially higher than any otherleague I have ever heard of.To see your team's divisional placements, go to MAIN > TEAM HOME >STANDINGS. To see the STANDINGS for the entire age division or for an individualaffiliation, go to Inside-The-League > STANDINGS.As usual if you have any serious concerns about what I have done, please contact me, I don't want anyone feeling cheated or screwed. Ifyou are surprised by something re: your team, either I will have agood answer why I did it that way OR I messed up and it was anoversight. So don't suffer in silence if you feel bad aboutsomething.Oh, I almost forgot, the DLC and LMS!(3) ENYTB TournamentsDLCGold - 3 regs Silver - 5 regsWe only have 5 gold teams at 14U and one of those is from Utica. Thus, the gold DLC subsription rate was very high at 75%. We willhave to run this division of the tournament with a slightly differentformat. We will go with a double round-robin and a 1 game championship(counting the pool games, that will be 3 games head-to-head for thefinalists). Also, with 3 teams, one team will be idle each night. There's also a good chance at least one of these teams will have wona sanctioned tournament. If we have only two teams, it will be ahead-to-head, best-of-3 series. The Silver division has 5 teams signed up. Maybe another team willcome forward to complete the field with a 6-pack. Contact me if youare interested.LMSGold - 2Silver - 4I have one Gold13 team looking to enter a LMS as well. They could begrouped with the 14Silver and we could bump a top 14silver into thegold grouping. One more high silver or gold team would complete thepicture. Contact me if interested. If not, maybe we will juggle theformat a bit.OK, that's really the end.Ed
