You guys took it easy on me this weekend. Only three requests forchanges were made. One was easy to do (NYCDK got a twi-night DH4/29), one was impossible (no opponent was available), and one wasaccepted but withdrawn. Also, the roster print function on teh website is now working for allteams (if I'm wrong on that let me know but I logged in as a club onSAT and was able to do it so I believe we are set there). Many of you are new to the league so I want to give you a quickoverview of the ppd/reschedule and forfeit protocols you shouldfollow throughout the season. We don't allow games to be cancelledanymore. They are either ppd and never made up or they are forfeited. The difference, as explained previously, is whether you gets points inthe standings. The protocols for ppd reschedule and forfeits are laid out inexcruciating detail in FAQ. We have learned over the years that if wedon't have a logical protocol laid out for every contingency, theresult is chaos and people feel cheated, which detracts from thereason all of you are here - to have fun managing and developing yourown team. One thing I can guarantee is that if you are screwed by thisleague, it is unintentional - that hopefully made you smile. (1) It is important to understand that from the moment your schedulebecomes OFFICIAL, it is each team's responsibility to manage allnecessary changes to their schedule. This includes weatherpostponements and non-weather postponements/forfeits. We hope thereare none of the latter as we did customize each team schedule to thatteam's specifications, but sometimes circumstances change and changesare forced upon us. (A) Always notify your opponents of all changes as soon as possible. This gives them time to look for another opponent or release theirfamiles for the weekend. Common sense. (NOTE: Click your opposingteam's name on your schedule to bring up their contact info - contactthe primary contact, if none, contact the manager).(B) All teams should confirm their games with each other early in theweek. Double-check fields, times, directions etc. Don't drive 100miles only not to find your opponent waiting. Home teams areresponsible for scheduling umps, even when using somebody else'sfields. Contact that member to see what ump group should be used andagree on who will schedule the umps and who will contact in the eventof a ppd. (C) If weather is a factor, keep your opponent informed in a timelymanner. Don't have someone drive 100 miles because you forgot to callthem immediately to say the field is too wet to play. Decisionsusually need to made at least 2 hours in advance to save the teamfrom leaving from home. Be more conservative when teams are comingfrom a long ways away i.e, if chances are 50-50, ppd.(D) Your online schedule has "ppd" and "reschedule" links (functions)for each game. USE THEM. Always confirm the change with your opponentBEFORE entering it to the website. Only the home team has thecapability to ppd, reschedule or forfeit. It is important to keep thegames in the chronological order that they are played, as that canaffect your standings.(E) Forfeits are recorded in {ENTER SCORE} also located on each gameon your schedule. Either team can enter the score. Please do sowithin 24 hours of each played game.Real life examples:(1) protocol re: field is unplayable - inform your opponentimmediately that game is ppd. Home team always updates onlineschedule.(2) protocol re: moving game to your opponent's home field - informthem of your request as soon as you know your field is unavailable tosee if game can be switched to their field (they may be able to open a fieldby moving a game to an opponent's home field). If so, use the [changefield] function to change the field on your online schedule. If itcan't be, then game is ppd IF you can agree to a reschedule. If you can not, youmust forfeit. These types of changes and others will come up throughout the season- it is your job to manage your schedule and keep it updated and keepyour opponents informed of changes as soon as you know. Everytime achange is made to an online schedule, the league as will all playersand coaches on both teams are informed via email (clear your spamcatcher for emails from runmyleague.com).Most importantly, keep communicating with your opponents re: yourschedule. Confirm all games a weak ahead of time. I don't know if youhave to come to any meetings or read much of the website but this isthe gospel preached endlessly. Be proactive with your fellow members, now that the schedule is official, all changes are between you andyour opponent.Questions about the league:(1) look on the website for the answer to your question. The answerto most every question is somewhere on teh website.(2) If (1) doesn't help, go to your team's club rep - that is theperson from YOUR organization that owns the ENYTB franchise that youare playing under (listed in box on team home page). (3) If your club rep can't help you, he has a league rep that he cango to to get the answer to your question (listed in box on club homepage). (4) Only come to me if you feel you absolutely need to (a specialmatter or if the league "help system" fails you). It's not that Idon't care but I will be busy custom scheduling 3,000 games the next30 days. Other than that have fun and I will see our tournament teams on theweek of June 23 in BSPA. In between, I hope to get out during theseason to spend some time at our many fields/games. One last note, we have a few games scheduled for this weekend (4/15).It looks like a weather ppd because fields aren't ready and it may bequite cold - home teams should contact their opponents as soon aspossible to discuss. The same may apply to 4/22. Do the best you canand keep each other in the loop. By talking you may find each of youhas certain flexibility that will allow you to still find a way toplay each other. For teams not too far apart, playing a single gameon one or two weekday nights would be netter than not playing at all,if possible. That does it.Ed
