Minutes From 2016 Kick-Off Meeting

2015 In Review:
  • 20th Anniversary Of The Founding Of ENYTB!
  • Self-Scheduling Introduced/Implemented!
  • ENYTB produced its 7th World Series Champion - the Columbia Clippers 11 (AABC11)!
Other Highpoints From 2015:
  • Registrations reached 200 teams for the first time ever!
  • Team registration options expanded to include ENYTB hosted World Series Qualifiers and more DBI entry to sanctioned tournaments!
  • EarlyBird Program introduced for 13u/14u teams that want to begin pre-season play in April (for players w/o a school program at those ages)!
  • ENYTB teams continued to be very successful in sanctioned post-season play!
  • ENYTB hosted non-sanctioned tournaments including June Madness (44 teams), Last Man Standing (85 teams) and Fall Classic At-The-Joe (9 team max)!
  • Fall program included more than 100 teams!
Major Areas In Need Of Improvement:
  • Server Response-Time and Downtime Was Poor;
  • Capability To Provide Timely Response To Member Inquiries Proved Insufficient in 2015;
  • Need To Fully Automate Self-Scheduler Application;
  • Members Continued To Ignore Need To Enter NWP/NHNFC Requests Online In Real-Time - Causing Huge Waste Of League Resources.

FOCUS FOR 2016

  • Improving Member Service & League Administrative Efficiency with implementation of a professional HelpDesk system staffed by several professional employees (no more League Navigators);
  • We have also subscribed to a new email system that allows us to track whether emails are getting delivered;
  • ENYTB will do all scheduling in 2016 (Self-Scheduler will continue to be used) and keep track of steps taken so as to provide basis for full automation for use in 2017;
  • Clubs will continue to enter their field availability to the website and teams will continue to enter their team availability to the website;
  • Website has been transferred to a new server (cloud-based), which should eliminate downtime and delays experienced last year;
  • Interface for field availability has been reorganized and greatly streamlined - much more intuitive;
  • Opponent ranking system inside of SS has been revamped and greatly improved;
  • Schedule Reliability - the NWP and NHNFC in-season rescheduling options have been eliminated;
There also is a new policy on discounts & contacting the League for help. This discount was originally created to reward bigger clubs for economies-of-scale in the use of league resources devoted to supporting their club's information needs. While many clubs do a great job of funneling the requests of their teams through their club GM, many others do not. Clubs do not deserve a discount just for being big. Beginning in 2016:
  • discounts shall apply to all clubs with two or more teams (instead of four) provided all information contacts with the league are made by the club GM;
  • the discount shall be set at $50 per team beginning with the club's 2nd team;
  • the discount shall be paid out as a rebate at the end of the season to all qualifying clubs;
  • due to the low price of fall registration ($225/team), there will be no rebate for fall teams.
Also new in 2016 - new roster rules and special rosters for JOE teams.Teams have asked us to crack down on player eligibility for this tournament. To do so, we have added additional JOE tournament roster rules:
  • New roster capability will restrict player eligibility to league active players in the current summer season (player must be on a league roster as active before July 1 and player must have appeared in at least one ENYTB game prior to July 1.
  • New JOE rosters will include an upload capability for player headshots as well as music choice and graduating HS and class year;
  • A player shall not appear on more than one JOE roster. Once a player has been added to one team’s JOE roster, the system will not allow him to be added to another team’s JOE roster unless the first team chooses to remove the player from its JOE roster prior to the roster lockdown date of Sep 1;
  • Player must have HS eligibility remaining in the current year;
Also, to encourage clubs to make teams more club oriented:
  • Batting order positions 1-5 shall be limited to club players (home grown);
  • Pitching eligibility shall be limited to club players plus one non-club player (designated on roster);
  • Batting order shall not include more than one EH;
  • MAX roster limit = 25 players;
  • Roster lock down on SEP 1. No exceptions.

Summary Of 2016 Postseason Offerings

  • Given the low level of participation in ENYTB hosted sanctioned tournaments in 2015, ENYTB will be hosting only one sanctioned tournament in 2016 - NABF15 World Series. This is the first every locally hosted World Series event for travel teams.
  • ENYTB will continue hosting the June Madness tournament at ages 9u-12u and the registration fee has been reduced to free (participating teams pay one ump per game played). At ages 13U and older, ENYTB will begin hosting a SUPER 8 tournament to determine a league champion at those ages. These tournaments will be hosted at DevilCats Stadium beginning JUL 22. They too are free (participating teams pay one ump per game played).
  • ENYTB also shall continue hosting the highly popular Last Man Standing tournament. Entry fee $225 plus participating teams pay one ump per game played (three game guarantee);
  • ENYTB also shall continue hosting the Fall Classic At-The-Joe. Entry Fee $695 per team, all-inclusive. Each participating team also obligated to purchase 50 tix to ENYTB night at-the-JOE (TBA) at a price of $10 per ticket (includes a loaded cash value of $5 for food or merchandise)
New in 2016 - Mandatory Eligibility for one particular sanctioned tournament for all Gold and High Silver teams at age 13u and older. Because of the decrease in sanctioned tournament participation, regular season games have lost meaning, which is not a good thing for the league (more like exhibition games). For this reason we have kept the June Madness tournament at the younger ages and introduced the Super 8 tournaments at 13U and older. However, even more is needed. By making it mandatory for all Gold and HS teams at 13U and older to be eligible for a premier sanctioned tournament, we can offer eligibility for about half the regular cost. In addition, we can guarantee the Gold division a direct berth to the NABF World Series. The berth for the HiSilver Division may be direct to the NABF World Series as well or it may be to the NABF Regional (still negotiating with NABF but it looks good for 2 World Series berths). Lastly, if the winning team declines the berth for any reason, they will be refunded their entry fee.
