League Calendar & Team Registration Pages Set For 2016

A - League Calendar Of Events is Set for 2016 - It shows ALL league meetings (2) and all league deadlines (many) for 2016. Please consult frequently to see what lies ahead. Located on homepage.

The most common question from members is what do I need to do next. A consult of the League's Calendar Of Events should easily answer such a question.

B - Team Registration Pages, Customized By Age & Power Level Are Set-Up For 2016 - This is what we call the league program - it includes every postseason tournament option that we make available to our members. This year, each age group has between 8 and 12 postseason tournament options to choose from. Within a given age level, the options may be fewer as many options vary by power level. Every team must go to their team registration page and enter their registration choices.

NOTE: Even if you want nothing extra, you must save this page to create your team invoice and team bill.

We have tweaked the ENYTB postseason program some this year.

Non-sanctioned Tournaments:

1 - No more June Madness at 13U and over. Instead, it has been replaced by a "Top 8" tournament. The 8 best records in each age division from 13U thru 22u shall qualify for this tournament.

Entry fee = FREE but to be eligible, teams must select it on their registration page.

This will be a single elimination tournament. The first round will be played on the higher seed's home field where possible and all remaining games will be played at DevilCats Stadium. Play will begin on July 21 or 22 and conclude by Monday night. The league will provide baseballs, trophies for all 1st and 2nd place teams and a player award for all players on the winning teams. Teams will pay for their own umpires, same as regular season play.

2 - June Madness - Like the Top 8 tournament described above, the entry fee shall be FREE but to be eligible, teams must select it on their registration page.

REPEAT: If you don't select a FREE tournament we must assume you are not interested or are not available.

The June Madness format will remain the same - all teams teams can qualify by simply selecting the tournament, it will be single elimination, and the pairings in the early rounds will be between the lower seeds only. Play will begin on June 16 or 17 and conclude by Monday night. The league will provide baseballs, trophies for all 1st and 2nd place teams and player awards (ENYTB June Madness medallions) for all players on both finalist teams in each age level. Teams will pay for their own umpires, same as regular season play.

To make 1 & 2 free of charge this year, ENYTB has increased the base fee by $50/team. This is the first rate increase in more than 10 years. In addition to covering the expenses of these two FREE tournaments, the extra revenue will help offset a portion of the increased admin costs associated with hiring two full-time league admins this year.

3 - Last Man Standing - Scheduled for the final weekend of July this year (the week after the Top 8 tournaments). Open to ENYTB and non-ENYTB teams alike.

Last year 85 teams played in this tournament on 25 fields around the Capital Region. Unlike single elimination tournaments, this tournament features a 3, 4 or 5 game minimum guarantee, depending . on the number of teams in the division. Teams are combined into two year age groups e.g., 9/10, 11/12 etc. and are further divided into three levels of play (high, medium, low). Formats can include as few as 4 teams or as many as 9 or more. The most fun format may be the 9-teamer (3 pools of 3).

Like the June Madness tournaments, the league will provide all baseballs for the Last Man Standing tournaments as well as trophies for the 1st and 2nd place teams. The league also will give player awards (ENYTB Last Man Standing medallions) to all players on both finalist teams in each divisional tournament. Teams will pay for their own umpires, same as regular season play.

4 - The Fall Classic at Joe Bruno will be back again (year 3). Limited openings so reserve early. A once in a lifetime opportunity unless you get drafted by a big league team!

SANCTIONED TOURNAMENTS:

5 - Registrations for sanctioned NCTS events are on the decline. To ensure that the outcome of league games is always for more than just bragging rights, ENYTB is introducing mandatory registration for one tournament program for all gold and high silver teams at 13u thru 22.

Gold teams - will compete for one NABF World Series berth at ages 14, 16, 17, 18 and 22 (gold and high silver combined). At 13 and 15, they will compete for an ECTB World Series berth. The fee for this eligibility is $75.

High Silver teams - will compete for an NABF World Series berth at 17u and for an NABF Regiional berth at ages 14, 16 and 18. At 13 and 15, they will compete for an ECTB World Series berth. At 22, they will compete with gold teams for one NABF World Series berth.

NOTE: By making these tournaments mandatory we are able to halve the regular eligibility fee. Also, if you win the berth and are unable to use it or don't want to use it, your account will be credited with $75 to be applied against the following year's mandatory tournament fee.

6 - AABC and PONY berths will be available on both a competitive and direct buy-in basis in 2016.

7 - NABF Regional berths and ECTB WS berths also will be available on a DBI basis (in addition to competitive berths available via #5 above).

So look closely at your team registration form and bring any questions you have to our Kick-Off meeting or submit them to our HelpDesk.

Thank you,
Ed
