Summary Of 1/5/2015 Executive Committee Meeting

This year's ENYTB Executive Committee members are:

(1) President - Ed Frye
(2) Vice-President and League Navigator - Matt Terry (DevilCats)
(3) Member's Council - Jamie Kosowsky (TC Bombers)
(4) Member's Council and League Navigator - Bill Stubblebine
(5) Member's Council and League Navigator - Bill Parlapiano

We met last nighty and accomplished a lot, including addressing all outstanding issues for 2015. Chief among them, was the design of the 2015 ENYTB post-season program, which will be presented at our Annual Kick-Off Meeting but is commented on below.

We also made several rule changes, two of which generated the most interest from the membership: limits & restrictions on the use of over-aged players; and, the status of players whose prior year's team no longer intends to participate in the Elite Division.

Both rulings have been posted on the News Board of our homepage for your reading pleasure.

Other important decisions and rulings from last night include:

(1) League Navigators will be continued.
(2) Elite Division will be continued and expanded - all ages 9U-19U.
(3) Large Member Discounts (4 full-time teams or more) will be continued but in a slightly different form - Previously clubs were given one free team per every four full-time registrations. This has been changed to a 10% off the club's total bill. This will benefit those clubs that elect to register for sanctioning & other tournaments. To qualify, clubs still need to have at least four full-time team registrations.
(4) Self-Scheduling - Work continues on developing that complex software. We plan to have a working version by the end of Jan.
(5) June Madness Tournaments have been eliminated at ages 13U and older. Instead, ENYTB will be hosting World Series Qualifiers for ECTB (13/15) and NABF (14/16/17/18/22) during those times.
(6) June Madness will be continued at 9U-12U and it will be open to all ENYTB teams, regardless of sanctioning choice, if any. June Madness is now a trophy only tournament. These changes will accomplish three important things: (a) price of tournament will decline; (b) by eliminating sanctioned tournament berths as prizes we hope to better balance the supply and demand for competitive sanctioned NCTS berths so that we don't continue to have a large number of berth declinations; and,(3) beginning 2015, the PONY berth that previously went to the JMT, will be available to teams via the new competition for BERTH FUTURES (described next).
(7) BERTH FUTURES - Beginning 2015, ENYTB will award FUTURES berths in PONY and AABC. FUTURES allows this year's teams to compete this year for a guaranteed berth next year. This will allow teams to plan ahead with certainty, fund-raise etc.
(8) A frequent reason given for turning down berth awards in teh past is that there isn't enough time to plan time off from work etc. While FUTURES is aimed at helping that, so will our new policy of awarding all berths one week earlier than previously. Instead of getting your award on Monday and having to be at the tournament on Thursday, we will make awards one week earlier, giving teams 10 or 11 days to get ready to go.
(9) PONY CHANGES - 9U will be separate from 10u and have its own sanctioned tournament series leading to a World Series. PONY also has added a 23U division. Lastly, PONY has reduced the number of tournament levels it offers. This will result in much larger Regional tournaments, more like Super-Regionals with 15 or so teams rather than 4 or 5 as has been the custom.
(10) Optional Time Curfews of 2 hours 15 minutes for all games that are not the last game scheduled on the field that day.
(11) Will use international tie-breaker rule to break all tied games.
(12) Berths & Prizes for ECTB and NABF World Series Qualifiers - Guaranteed Entry and Locally Hosted locally (TCB/ECTB and DC/NABF). Winners of these tournaments will get paid berth to World Series and between $1,000 and $2,500 travel money from ENYTB. Local regionals will be easier on ENYTB families and travel money will assist the winning team to advance.

Thanks to those that emailed me their opinions ahead of time.
