Now Accepting Applications To Serve On ENYTB's Members' Council

The ENYTB Members' Council acts as an advisory body to the ENYTB Corporate Board. It is consulted on all non-corporate decisions affecting the membership e.g., rules changes, disciplinary matters etc. Council members are not asked to perform any ENYTB administrative functions per se.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

John Barna, Brunswick, and Matt Terry, Devil Cats, ably filled positions on the Council the last two years. John retired from ENYTB during the 2011 season and Matt is currently interim Vice-President on the ENYTB Corporate Board (replacing Rick Miller, BSPA, who retired from ENYTB at the end of 2011).

Jamie Kosowsky, Tri-City Bombers, and Ed Smith, NY Valley Bombers, were recently appointed to positions on the Council. However, since up to 7 persons can serve on the Council at any one time, we wish to give up to five more ENYTB members interested in serving the league in this capacity an opportunity to do so.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESSFUL MEMBERS' COUNCIL APPLICANTS:
  • Limited Self-Interest - Do not apply if your primary goal is to serve the interests of your club to the exclusion of what is best for the success of the league as a whole. We are seeking individuals who can see the big picture and take into account the impacts of decision-making on different member subgroups e.g., big members vs small members, highly competitive teams vs not highly competitive teams, local teams vs non-local teams, etc;
  • No Politics - All decision-making must be in accordance with the constitution. Decisions can not be influenced by who the parties are;
  • Possess basic knowledge of the ENYTB program, structure and operations;
  • Willingness to be responsive in a timely manner to CB/MC information requests;
  • Recognition that the Members' Council is only an Advisory Group. Nonetheless, Members' Council is often asked to vote on issues (non-binding); and,
  • Attend as many league meetings as possible, including both membership meetings (winter) and CB/MC (fall/early winter).
If interested, please make your interest known to Ed Frye in writing via email.
