Congratulations to the 2010 NYS American Legion Champions - the Saratoga Stampede!!!

Congratulations to Saratoga Stampede 19U for winning the New York State American Legion Championship in Newburgh over the weekend.

And they did it the hard way: having lost to West Seneca earlier in the tournament by a score of 12-2, the Stampede faced the daunting challenge of having to defeat the undefeated West Seneca team back-to-back in the Championship Rounds. And they did just that, winning by identical scores of 4-1 behind the brilliant pitching of Matt Coleman and Dylan Anderson, each throwing complete game gems!

This is the 10th year of the Stampede program under founder and owner Paul Mound. Paul's charges have made it to the state tournament three times before, including the final in 2006, but this is their first ever State Legion Championship. Though this team doesn't currently compete in ENYTB, the Stampede program is a marquee member of ENYTB, participating in ENYTB at the pre and post Legion ages. Many of the players on this team have participated in ENYTB at the younger ages and will again next year in the 22u division.

Congratulations from ENYTB to Paul and all his Stampede players and coaches, past and present, who have contributed to the success of this program over the last decade. Each should feel a great sense of pride in this wonderful accomplishment and share in the celebration of the Stampede's first ever State Title!
