Public Tryouts Are Legal - But All Rules re: Tampering Still Apply...
NOTE: Public tryouts (i.e., not by private invitation and open to all players who qualify) are legal under provision 17.5 of ENYTB's constitution, available online at League Info > Governance > Constitution.
Indeed, many ENYTB clubs/teams conduct PUBLIC TRYOUTS during the fall and winter seasons.
IMPORTANT: These tryouts can NOT be used as an excuse to bypass the league's rules re: tampering. When members conduct public tryouts they are required by league rule to respect all contact/discussion restrictions that would ordinarily constitute tampering with respect to another member's "protected" players.
To understand what these contact/discussion restrictions are, read:
- News & Info Article entitled From League Info > Glossary re: Tampering
- FAQ Article entitled Can My Club/Team Organize a Public Tryout? under subject of ENYTB Player Protection.
- Articles XVI and XVII of the Constitution lay out all ENYTB rules re: member player rights in painstaking detail.
