League Info > Glossary is quite useful as it contains definitions of many ENYTB terms and concepts. If you are looking for a definition and can't find it there, let us know and we will add it poste haste!

Tampering - To express an interest in the services of a player to the player, his family or representative, when that player is another member's protected player (roster). This includes engaging in any negotiations with the player, his family or representative, as well as telling the player you would add him to your league roster if he gets a release.

Prior to doing any of the above, a club/team may contact the player's club/team and ask permission to talk to the player. Until then, an interested club/team can tell the player only that he is bound by league rules not to discuss anything in regards to the player playing for his organization UNTIL the player has a release or until he can obtain permission to talk to him from the player's club. The League's maintains a player database, if you are unsure of what club, if any, has a player's ENYTB rights, contact the League Office and we will let you know.

Player's wishing to move from on ENYTB club to another should request a release from their current club owner.

NOTE: Persuant to the ENYTB Constitution, the authority to release a player resides with the club not the team.

A player may authorize a team from another club to request a release on his behalf. The team can do this by attempting to add the player to his roster and when asked if he would to request a release, answer yes. When a player pursues this course, he is obligated by league rule to play for the team making the request on his behalf should the request be granted. In fact, when the release is granted he will automatically be added to that team's roster. The requesting team of course, is free to release the player at any time.

Any instance of an ENYTB member, or anyone acting as his agent, engaging in any recruiting activity with an ENYTB protected player BEFORE receiving permission from the player's primary ENYTB club, shall be construed as tampering.

Any contact between a League member and another member’s protected player that ignores the provisions of the League’s first contact protocols as defined in section 17.2 of the constitution shall constitute tampering. The failure to ask sufficient questions to determine whether any such rights exist shall be construed as tampering as well.

PENALTY For TAMPERING - Beginning with 2011 season, any team found guilty of tampering shall be ineligible to add to its roster any free agent who played in ENYTB in the prior or current season, for a period of one calendar year. This includes the player the team was found to have tampered with.

If a 2nd team from the same club is found guilty of tampering while the first team is still serving its penalty, all teams owned by the same club shall be similarly restricted.

A 3rd tampering violation by any team owned by the same club within three years of the first tampering violation shall result in the immediate suspension of the club and all its teams from league participation. The suspension shall be for the current year only. Refunds shall be determined as follows:
  • if suspension occurs prior to March 1st - the club shall be entitled to a 100% refund of all registration fees;
  • if suspension occurs prior to April 1st but after March 1st, the team shall be entitled to a refund of all sanctioning and tournament related fees as well as 50% of all base registration fees paid; and,
  • if the suspension occurs after April 1st, the club shall be entitled to no refunds of any monies paid by any of its teams.
