A Real World Example - When You Are Unable To Agree On The Details Of A Make-Up Game & The 48 Hour Rule Is Looming, Use The NHNFC Request (Instead Of The NWP Request) To Avoid A Forfeit

A Real World Example:When The 48 Hour Rule Is LoomingAnd You Are Unable To Agree On The Details Of A Make-Up Game Use The NHNFC Request (Instead Of The NWP Request)To Get Your Request In On Time & Avoid The ForfeitGot this question this morning, JUL 3.Q. My opponent has rescheduled our June 29 game to July 7. Confirmation of this was not able to be done until after June 29. How do we update the schedule to reflect this?Admin Note: A quick check of the team's schedule shows that it never submitted a request for a schedule change to the website.Q (from Admin)Why was the game not played as scheduled on JUN 29? A. (from member)My opponent did not have enough players available. Their manager notified me of this 5 days before the game but we have been working on confirming players, field time and umpires since then (10 days).A. (from Admin)ENYTB has a 48 Hour Schedule Reliability Rule As Follows:All requests to cancel or postpone a game to another date, other than weather postponements, must be agreed upon by both parties AND submitted to the website for confirmation no less than 48 hours before the scheduled start of the game in question. Failure to do so automatically results in a must play game as scheduled or forfeit situation. The opportunity to cancel or postpone the JUN 29 game expired 48 hours before that game's official start time (on JUN 27).Q. (from member)Does this mean we can't make this game up?A. (from admin)No. Having failed the 48 Hour Rule, your teams can still "make-up" the game if both want to (optional) but to do so you would need to schedule a NEW game against each other using the ADD GAME function on your schedule page just above your game listing. Q. (from member)But their manager notified me 5 days before the game and it has taken us 10 days to come to an agreement. A. (from Admin)The 48 Hour Rule states that your request must be submitted to the system no less than 48 hours before the game's scheduled start time. Period. Q. (from member)What could we have done to avoid this situation?A. (from Admin)As soon as your opponent realized that scheduling a make-up game was going to cause him to miss the 48 hour deadline for a NWP, he should have asked you for a NHNF Cancellation instead. If you agreed to that request and he submitted it to the website 48 hours in advance of the game's scheduled start time, there would have been no penalty and the two of you would have had unlimited time to figure out the reschedule, if that is what you both wanted to do.IMPORTANT: ENYTB does not allow games to be canceled or postponed, other than weather postponements, less than 48 hours before the scheduled start time of the game. This rule trumps all else.An article on this fact was posted on the News Board on the ENYTB homepage very recently.
