ENYTB Produces Another World Series Champion - FIRST EVER IN AABC !!!
posted by Administrator 08/06/2008 12:08:59
"To be the best, you must play the best......"Ten years ago, ENYTB introduced classified competition to local travel baseball. Instead of waiting all season to play the best possible local competition in a weekend "All-Star" team format, ENYTB's "GOLD" division enabled the best teams in the area to play each other on a daily basis throughout the regular season. The result has been a quantum leap in the competitiveness and success of local teams in state, regional and national championship tournament play. Throughout the last several years, various ENYTB GOLD teams have made serious bids for World Championships in sanctioned tournament play but prior to last year none had won the ultimate prize. Then, in 2007, ENYTB crowned its first ever World Champion (NABF/16U). I am happy to announce that the League did not have to wait very long for an encore performance. A few days ago, Spring Youth, who joined ENYTB in 2007, was crowned the 13U AABC World Champion!!! Last week, after going undefeated in the State AABC13 competition, Spring traveled to Battle Creek, MI to compete in the AABC13 World Series with 19 other aspirants. The large field was divided into four 5 team pools and each pool winner advanced to a double elimination championship phase. Spring won their pool and then lost their first game in elimination play. They, however, would not lose again. Their final two games were against Michigan, the same team that defeated them in Round One, but this time they had their #1 and #2 pitchers ready to go. After two epic battles in which Spring Youth emerged victorious, they were crowned the 2008 World Champions (13U) by AABC.C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S TO MANAGER KEVIN McGRATH AND THE ENTIRE SPRING YOUTH TEAM AND ORGANIZATION FOR THEIR GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!!The entire league shares in this great accomplishment as it was the high powered competition offered by ENYTB's GOLD teams, and High Silver teams, that helped make SPRING battle ready for the highest level of competition they would ultimately face. Having produced back-to-back World Series Champions - ENYTB's GOLD Division has proved the adage "To be the best, you must play the best......"Other sanctioned tournament championships claimed by ENYTB teams in 2008 include:***12U PONY Regional Champions --> Rotterdam Rangers***13U AABC State Champions --> Spring Youth***14U AABC State Champions --> Northeast Hurricanes***14U NABF Regional Champions --> Waterford Fordians***15U AABC State Chamions --> So. Troy Dodgers Note: STD is playing in the AABC World Series this week.Runner-Ups:***16U NABF Regional --> Tri County Bees***18U PONY Regional --> Bethlehem Eagles***Unlimited AABC --> Waterford FordiansNOTE: Sanctioned tournaments involving teams from ENYTB only were not included in the above list.Congratulations to all of our 2008 tournament champions!
