Registration For Last Man Standing Tournaments Closes on July 15 - Use ENYTB's New Online Registration Capability To Register Today!!!
posted by Administrator 07/05/2008 10:07:15
The ever popular Last Man Standing Tournament marks the traditional close to the ENYTB summer season. This tournament is open to member teams and non-league teams alike.Registration remains open but will close no later than July 15. 90% of registrations for this tournament occur in the first half of July so this weekend is a good time to get the word out. Teams registrations are accepted in the order that their entry fee is received. There are limited openings so act quickly to avoid being shut out.(a) Who's Eligible?Everybody. As mentioned, this tournament is open to member teams and non-member teams alike.(b) Paperwork?None. That's right, none.(c) Player Eligibility This tournament is open roster. ENYTB teams are not restricted to their ENYTB rosters. You can bring your own players, players from other ENYTB teams that are not participating in this tournament and/or non-league players. All we ask is that you refrain from bringing in any "ringers" i.e., over-aged stud players. You can add a couple of overaged players as long as they are similar calibre players to the age level you are playing at.(d) When?We are trying something new this year. Instead of offering this tournament for the last weekend in July only (FRI-SUN), we are offering it for two different weekends, the next to last weekend of July and the last weekend. The dates are:Friday, July 25th thru Sunday, July 27th.Friday, Aug 1st thru Sunday Aug 3rd. (e) Format? There are two possible formats:(i) 4 teams - round robin followed by single elim championship round. Results from round-robin used to seed brackets for SE phase. Every team is guaranteed to make the semi-finals and to play at least 4 games. (ii) 6 teams - two pools of three with cross pool play, followed by single elim championship round. We put non-league teams in one pool and league teams in the other. Cross pool play ensures everyone is playing new opponents. Results from pool play are used to seed brackets for SE phase. Seed 1A vs seed 2B and seed 2A vs 1B. The 3rd seeds in both pools playoff in a consolation game. Each team is guaranteed to play at least 4 games. (f) Hosting?Primary - A participating team volunteers to be primary host. The host team will play all its games at home and it will host the SE phase on Sunday. Sometimes a non-participant will host for fundraising purposes.Secondary Hosts - A participating team volunteers to be secondary host. The secondary host team will play all its games at home through Saturday. A 4 team tournament needs only 1 secondary host. A 6 team tournament needs 2 secondary hosts, unless one of teh hosts has two fields. Host teams keep all concession revenues. All tournament expenses are covered by the participating teams and the tournament e.g., umps, baseballs, and prizes.(g) Entry Fee?$200 plus teams pay their own game expenses i.e., they share ump fees and balls for their own games. Total cost approximately $400. The $200 entry fee is spent on awards.(h) Prizes?Team prizes are valued at $1,200 (based on 6 teams). Each participating team shall receive 1 dozen high quality baseballs and an Extra Innings Sack O' Gold (EI batting cage tokens valued at $50).In addition, the 1st and 2nd place teams also will receive team trophies (ENYTB trademark "3-Bat, Glove & Ball" trophies) and free use of Extra Inning's training facility for their team (valued at $250/team).OPTIONAL: Tournament tee-shirts (with ENYTB trademark logo on front and baseball diamond w team names in baseballs on back).$10 each (minimum order size of 10)Send order with sizes and check to Ed Frye. Make check payable to ENYTB and mail to 5227 Bridle Pathway, Schednectady, NY 12303. Orders will be accepted until July 15th. The League does not make a penny off these tournaments. Everything is priced at cost. It is our way of saying thanks to everyone for another great summer season.(i) Registration? All berths are available to teams on a direct buy-in basis only. Entries are locked in in the order that payment is received. Teams may register by contacting Ed Frye (fryes@nycap.rr.com) or they may use ENYTB's NEW IN 2008 online registration option. Online registration works for both member teams and non-league teams. To register as a member team, you must be logged in.Go to enytb.com (ENYTB's website):Tournaments > Open > ENYTB Sponsored > Registerand follow the prompts to register your team. Member teams can register in 15 seconds. Non-member teams are required to identify their team name and a contact information for the manager and, if different, their primary contact.Once you register online (or register over the phone with me), your team is added to the registration list for that tournament. When your payment is received you are "promoted" to either the Guaranteed Entry list (Eligible) or, if that is already full, the waiting list. If the waiting list is big enough to put on a 2nd tournament, we will do so. If a team on the guaranteed entry list withdraws, the highest team on the waiting list shall take its place. (j) Refunds? If a team is left on the waiting list, it will be refunded its money. If any team is unable to participate because of a conflict with participation in a sanctioned tournament through this league, it too shall receive a full refund. Any team unable to participate for any other reason shall be entitled to a refund IF AND ONLY IF another team from the waiting list takes its place. When a team with a guaranteed position withdraws from the tournament, the highest team on the waiting list, if any, takes its place. When this happens, the withdrawn team shall be refunded its entry fee.If entries are insufficient on both dates, teams will be contacted and asked if they can play on the other weekend. If they can't, their full entry fee will be refunded.Any questions contact Ed Frye. NEW ONLINE REGISTRATION CAPABILITIES:(1) Current Last Man Standing tournament offerings can be viewed at:Tournaments > Open > ENYTB Sponsored > View Tournaments (2) Current team registrations for each Last Man Standing tournament can be viewed at:Tournaments > Open > ENYTB Sponsored > View Entries (Eligibility Lists)(3) You can register online at enytb.com:Tournaments > Open > ENYTB Sponsored > Registerand follow the prompts.
