Amendment To ENYTB Constitution - Player Eligibility Following Release After Season Begins
posted by Administrator 06/07/2006 08:06:19
In general: (i) Once a player commits to play for an ENYTB team, that team has his exclusive rights in that age division for that year and these rights continue into the next season provided the player made appearances in 3 games in the current season and the team is listed as his primary team within this League (players are permitted to play on a secondary basis for a 2nd team in a different age division). (ii) If a player is released before the season begins, he may join another team in the same age division as the team he was released from or any other age division. The question arises what happens if a player is released after the season begins and has appeared in some number of games. The Executive Board has voted to have the following amendment of Section 10.6 Roster Drops, take effect immediately on an interim basis and be considered for permanent adoption during the off-season. Effective immediately, Section 10.6 Roster Drops, shall be amended to read as follows:Section 10.6 Roster DropsPlayers may be removed from a team's official league roster at any time. When a team removes a player from its official league roster, it surrenders all League rights to that player. (Note: A team maintains all League playing rights to its deactivated players.)Under this circumstance, the player is free to join any other team in the league, subject to the provisions of rules 20 and 20-1 below.RULE 20Any player released on or before June 15, regardless of number of game appearances, may join another team in the same age division as the team he was released from or any other age division, without any restriction on post-season eligibility other than that established by each national sanctioning body (see Section 10.7 Roster Additions herein for a description of each national sanctioning body's player eligibility requirements). Any player released after June 15 and having appeared in at least one ENYTB regular season "must play" game in the current season with his former team, is ineligible to join another team in the same age division UNLESS the team he joins is not eligible for post-season sanctioned tournament play in ANY of the same affiliations as his former team AND does not compete in any of the same divisions of League play. Rule 20-1 Any player, having made an appearance for an ENYTB team in the regular season and then being released by that team on or before June 15, shall be subject to a three game "ineligibility period" with his new team, beginning with the first game following his addition to the roster, with the proviso that this requirement not jeopardize his eligibility for post-season sanctioned tournaments. If the latter is applicable, the player may play in whatever games necessary to secure his sanctioned tournament eligibility BEFORE serving his three game ineligibility.
