posted by Administrator 01/18/2006 07:01:52
ENYTB has always welcomed dual-participation by teams from other Leagues (a process known as double registrations). ENYTB provides these teams with additional opportunities for competitively balanced play and sanctioned tournament eligibility. Most of these teams also register with us to be eligible for NABF Regional tournaments hosted locally by E... read more

Approximately half of our members are also responsible for operating their own house programs. Those that run smaller house leagues often are faced with the problem of having too few teams to provide them with a sufficient diversity of opponents. In addition, many house leagues, big and small, also desire to offer their house level players an exten... read more
***Major News*** AABC Makes Permanent ENYTB's Mickey Mantle and Connie Mack Programs and Removes All Restrictions On Team Eligibility
posted by Administrator 01/18/2006 07:01:14
When ENYTB was established in 1996, it affiliated with the AABC Sandy Koufax Division. Later we added AABC sanctioning at 15U, 13U, 12U, and 11U. Since there was an existing Mickey Mantle and Connie Mack League in the local area, AABC for many years would not sanction ENYTB at 16U and 18U. That prompted ENYTB to seek out other national affiliations... read more

In the last couple of years ENYTB teams have increasingly inquired about the possibility of ENYTB forming its own "Elite" division, with the possibility of including other elite teams from other regions. The ENYTB Constitution recognizes elite teams beginning at age 16, provided they participate in a higher level organized program of play than ENYT... read more

RULE CHANGE (PROPOSED 2006): Treatment Of Unplayed "Must Play" Games In League Standings
posted by Administrator 10/31/2005 09:10:00
A berth in the 14U Division was decided last night on the basis of forfeits of unplayed games that had been pp'd for non-weather related reasons. The two teams involved in these unplayed games both received berths but a third team, lost a berth as a result of these forfeits. That team was rightfully upset but they handled themselves in a gentlemanly manner (which was greatly appreciated) and simply asked that we revisit our rulemaking re: such matters. After talking about it with several people today here is my suggestion to prevent such an unfair situation from arising again. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Applicable to must play games only: (1) Any team with 3 or more forfeit losses shall be disqualified from berth contention in that year. (2) Any team that grants another team a postponement for any reason OTHER than weather, shall assume EQUAL risk IF THAT GAME DOESN'T GET MADE UP i.e., if the game remains unplayed no forfeit will be granted. For example, Joe Blow calls you up and tells you he can't play tomorrow because he doesn't have 9 players or his team is too tired to play or whatever. You reply OK, call me back with some dates for the make-up. Joe says thanks and bye. Well, Joe Blow never calls you back OR he does but you are both so heavily scheduled you can't find a date that works for both sides. The end of the season is coming up and you need those two points so you ask Joe for a forfeit. If you get the forfeit, the guy that loses the berth to you feels screwed. If you don't get the forfeit, you lose the berth and feel screwed. It is proposed that in the future, this situation be handled as follows: You must either tell Joe Blow when he asks for teh non-weather pp'd: (a) sorry I don't want to take the risk on not getting any points for this game in the event it isn't made up. I will take a forfeit now and you can call me back to schedule a for fun game later on. OR, (b) I'll give you the non-weather pp'd if we can agree to the make-up date right now. OR (c) You give Joe Blow the non-weather postponement and IF the game never gets played, neither of you will get any points for the unplayed must play game. Under this proposed rule change, you will be putting yourself at risk if/when you grant non-weather postponements w/o immediate rescheduling. Right now, teams freely grant non-weather postponements because they have nothing to lose - either the game is made up or they expect to get a forfeit win if the games isn't made up. This propsed rule will provide teams with a stronger incentive to reschedule and play any pp'd. must play games. NOTE: Weather related postponements shall remain an equal obligation to both teams. If both teams make a demonstrable good faith effort to reschedule in a timely manner and the game doesn't get played, then neither side will be awarded any points for the unplayed game. (3) All games must be completed by the date indicated on the STANDINGS with two exceptions: (i) Any playoff game agreed to by both opponents can be played on the following day, prior to the awarding of berths. (ii) The League President can order any unplayed or incomplete game that has a material effect on teh outcome of who wins a berth to be played on the first day following teh end of the regular season. Failure by either team to play an ordered game would result in a forfeit loss by that team and disqualification from any berth award.
